Kansas Dem Gov. Candidate Boasts 500 Top GOPers Now Back Him

Kansas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Paul Davis said Tuesday that the list of top Republicans in the state has increased from 100 to 500 members.

Davis made the announcement at a news conference on Tuesday, accompanied by the leaders of the group of Republicans who support Davis and oppose Republican Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, according to the Lawrence Journal-World.

The conference was to highlight the support Davis has begun to receive from 180 ex lawmakers and 360 educators, community leaders, and business leaders who are part of the group, Republicans for Kansas Values.

As TPM previously noted, in July the more than 100 GOP lawmakers that made up Republicans for Kansas Values, announced their support for Davis in protest of Brownback. That support has been a core part of Davis's pitch as he's waged a serious challenge to Brownback in the gubernatorial race.

The announcement of the growing number of Republicans for Kansas Values supporting Davis comes as four recent polls show either a tied race or Brownback just barely ahead of Davis.

The TPM Polltracker average gives Brownback a 2.1 point lead the rest of the field.

There will be a lot of despondent moderate republicans (that is, democrats) on election day when Sam Brownback is reelected!

He's either tied or slightly ahead and momentum is with him, in addition to Ebola in Kansas reminding the people of democrats' failures.

There are not as many 500 “top” Republicans in Kansas. I wouldn’t say there are 500 “top” Republicans in California, Texas, or NY. Not unless we change the meaning of “top”.

What he has is 500 RINOs of minor importance. IIRC someone was on the list erroneously and demanded to be taken off.

Is this same bunch going for Jonathan Soros’ buddy, Greg Orman also; against Pat Roberts? Since I heard that Orman is backed by Soros, I hope Roberts cleans his clock.

I think Brownback will pull it out, cementing his conservative changes.

Hmmm, doesn’t “top” have another meaning in some circles? Maybe that’s what you they mean...

Turns out it wasn't Ebola after all.

The conference was to highlight the support Davis has begun to receive from 180 ex lawmakers and 360 educators, community leaders, and business leaders who are part of the group, Republicans for Kansas Values.

These people are liberal Republicans who have been run out of the Kansas Republican Party by Governor Brownback. The politicians called themselves Republicans, but acted liked Democrats and often supported them. They are the crowd that got Governor Selbelius elected twice. Brownback led an assault against them in the state legislature in 2010 and the worst of the bunch were turned out. The others are hard core members of the teachers union who want to line their pockets at the expense of children and education. Many are living in nursing homes dreaming of the good old days with Alf Landon, Presidential candidate and father of former liberal Senator Nancy Landon Kassebaum. They are has beens and they have been exposed for the liberal Democrats that they really are.

The top 500 leaders includes educators? College professors or public screwl teachers, I seriously doubt you could find 500 Republican educators in any state.

Why not rename the list as “Top 500 Republican Turncoats” and publish all their names?

Or, rename it “The Kansas Benedict Arnolds Top 500 Republican Turncoat List”? Hit them where it hurts, i.e. “public perception” of them as traitors.

Sure it does ...

How much money are Karl Rove and haley Barbour secretly sending to the Democrat candidate ?

An absurd question ?

Not in 2014 America.

“An absurd question ?”

Yes.

Zero dollars.

The Chairman of the RNC is also sending zero dollars to the democrat nominee for Kansas Governor. Ridiculous.

All I say to our "good conservative" is that if the GOP-E worked-behind-the-scenes to STEAL victory from Mississippi's Chris McDaniels ...

with "Saint" Reince Priebus's silent "nod-of-approval" ...

THEN "any and all" genuine Conservatives will be potentially stabbed in the back by the GOP-E.

And dems be "facts" ...

In the Kansas contest for the United States Senate, for whom should Freepers vote, Pat Roberts (R) or Greg Orman (I)? There is no Democrat on the ballot.

I would vote for Roberts, "if" it's true that he has a 90+ conservative voting record ...

and unlike the "despicable" Mitch McConnell ...

Sen. Roberts has NOT pledged to DESTROY the Tea Party.

He does have that 90% conservative voting record, depending on when you start counting. Certainly in 2014 and you can probably throw in 2013 as well. Before that, not so much. His record is well above the median of his other Republican colleagues, but he’s no Ted Cruz. His record is a very close match to the sentiments of his Kansas Republican constituents.

500 is a flat out Lie. I will say he did get some people who do not like Conservatism behind him from the GOPE this Paul guy. But he is lying about having that much support. He is a liar. Former Rep. Jan Meyers for example was being touted as having supported Paul Davis and she set the record straight that she supports all republican candidates only and she is in full support of Governor Sam Brownback.
