Most animals communicate with innate sounds, such as the barking of dogs and the gobbling of turkeys. But some species, humans, for example, can imitate new sounds and learn how to use them correctly in social situations. This ability, called vocal learning, is one of the foundations of language.
Vocal learning is present in bats, some birds and cetaceans a group that includes whales, dolphins and porpoises. Avian scientists have identified specific neural pathways that play a role in learning birdsong, but studying language-learning in large marine animals is more difficult, the researchers said. It is ironic that some members of the animal kingdom have acquired the ability to communicate in another species form of communication yet there are some humans to whom one form of Ebonics pseudo-language is all they have the capacity to acquire.

I was wondering which to learn first, Killer Whale or Dolphin.
Looks like this has been decided for me.

BR> Absurd statement.
Replace the word "capacity" with "Desire" and you have a much more accurate statement.

If I told you the number of times I saw black people give other black people a hard time for “talking white”. There’s a weird sort of anti-learning, anti-improvement subculture among blacks. If you want to get an education or improve yourself it’s considered “acting white”. Whereas staying in poverty and ignorance is called “keepin’ it real”. Blows my mind.

Motivation correlates with desire, but being without the capacity is not correct. All humans have the capacity, but desire (i.e. motivation) is paramount, IMO.

If you went through many psychiatric institutions and see the people up front, you would see that the failure of their lives has everything to do with capacity to mean capability, the inability of their lives is directly related in ability. Some developmental issue in cognitive capacity is the issue.

I won’t disagree with that, but what you’re implicating is a defective subset of humanity that comprises perhaps .0001% of the population, and most likely much less.
My point revolves around the normal capacity of humankind. I think you understand what I mean.

Actual line from the article: "As their habitat shrinks because of human activities..."
I thought the habitat of whales and dolphins was supposed to be increasing. It's the habitat of terrestrial animals that's alleged to be shrinking. The writer of this article seems to be calling Al Gore a liar.

The is no "talk like a gay man" gene, it is affected (adopted) behavior. And they are conformist to "the community" as well.
