According to National Nurses United, 76 percent of nurses surveyed say their hospital has not communicated to them any policy regarding potential admission of Ebola patients, 85 percent say their hospital has not provided education sessions where nurses can ask questions, and just over one-third say their hospital has insufficient supplies of face shields and impermeable gowns.

Dallas didn’t have any missteps..

they had a patient who brought on his own death by lying to them and by delaying going to a hospital..

under the circumstances I think they are heroes..

and now one of them might pay for her compassion with her own life...

What will happen if an illegal alien working in a chicken processing plant comes down with ebola? How many people would stop eating chicken? This would kill the poultry industry. Then prices of meats and fish would go through the roof. Then a person who works processing beef gets sick. Then what?

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

All true, but that doesn't negate the statistics in the article - my daughter is a nurse and tells me that there has been zero training/planning/preparation. If her hospital gets a case coming in, it is a craps shoot as to whether or not everything is handled "by protocol" from the git-go.
