International donors have pledged $5.4bn (£3.4bn) to help rebuild Gaza at a conference in Cairo.
The total, announced by the Norwegian Foreign Minister, Boerge Brende, exceeded the $4bn (£2.5bn) the Palestinian Authority had asked for.
Qatar alone promised $1bn (£622m).

Rewarding terrorism and pouring money down a rat hole.
I wish I could find a sugar daddy who would come along and fix every self-destructive thing I’ve ever done to myself.
the world is full of Nazis! worse than a plague of locusts, or ants at a picnic...
but they can shove as much money into their little IslamoNazi beachead on the coast of Israel as they wish, it will, in due course, wind up going right down the toilet
Phuque Nazis!
All of them!!
it sure would be a pity if a nuclear device somehow detonated somewhere in the middle of the Gaza strip .
yes a real pity
(very possible, however...and there are much more advanced devices that just kill enemies without leaving behind the radiation fallout problem, too...)
Hey, concrete costs a lot of money, and they'll be pouring a lot to reconstruct those rat tunnels. If any money is left, then weapons come next. Then maybe they'll fix a couple buildings to hide the tunnels and arms.
They pledged but nothing can be done without Israel’s cooperation.
Then again there are far worthier recipients of that aid money.
Israel needs to declare an anti-tunneling buffer zone 1 km deep around it’s entire Gaza border and there set off deep drilled and placed subterranean explosive charges , set off on a random basis . Wherever and whenever listening of ground penetrating devices indicated possible tunneling .
Keep up guessing . Bury the little bastards while they work .
Money that is going to be used to rebuild the tunnels to harm Israel. The rest is going to pad their personal accounts.
I think Israel has declared tunnels a no-no many times to the Gazans. That hasn't stopped the activity. Subterranean charges won't have much effect, unless by crazy chance it is near a tunnel.
What might work, is that every time a tunnel is discovered by the Israelis, and or each time a rocket is fired from Gaza into Israel, that Israel increases the buffer zone inside the walls on the Gaza side by 1km. Every time. Bulldoze Gazan homes and increase the buffer from the walls. Push them closer to the sea each time until problem is solved.
