House candidate complains that female GOP opponent hasn’t “worked manually” (New York)

We touched on the rather strange goings on in New York’s 21 congressional district race last weekend, but the fascinating candidate put up by the Democrats just keeps bringing me back to the well. Millionaire filmmaker Aaron Woolf met up with his opponent, Republican small businesswoman Elise Stefanik for a debate this week. In the midst of the action, he suddenly popped up with an observation which left everyone scratching their heads.

“I don’t know if you have ever worked manually for a living like I have and I’m certain that [Green Party candidate Matt Funiciello] probably has-I don’t know if you can say something to a 49-year-old who’s working with their body-with their hands-it’s very different thing than sitting behind a desk and operating a computer.”

After Woolf originally made such a big deal out of Stefanik’s dating history, making comments about whether or not she’s ever “worked with her body” might not have been the best strategy. (Not to mention the question of exactly how much manual labor a filmmaker is doing on a weekly basis.)

This episode was odd enough to catch the attention of the gang on The Five....

Can you imagine if a GOP candidate said this? The Dems would attempt to tie any and all candidates, present and future to this.

Military issues aside, I categorize the vague term "worked manually" under intrastate commerce. And the problem with a federal politician inadvertently reflecting on intrastate commerce issues is the following.

Regardless what FDR's activist justices wanted everybody to think about the scope of Congress's Commerce Clause powers when it decided Wickard v. Filburn in 1942, the Supreme Court had previously clarified that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate intrastate commerce.

”State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added].” —Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
But once again, we have evidence of a Democratic federal candidate lawmaker who is seemingly preoccupied with regulating intrastate commerce, the feds actually having no constitutional authority to do so.

Yes, desperate for any angle against the opponent. This happens when there are not enough principals to stand for.

Standing for Drugged out Youth, doesn't work.

Neither does Adultery and Fornication.

Proposing some more out of control spending flops.

Being for war when your anti-war is a bust.

There really are not many principals left to stand on for the Democrat Party.

Interesting. 0bama’s prior work experience had no manual work, either.

Of course there is that bit of “manual work” he did with Larry Sinclair, but I doubt most Democrats will use that to support their case.

Hey Aaron Woolf, take these shirts and fold ‘em.

I can’t hear democrat heads exploding, from my front porch.

Let me get this straight. Aaron Woolf and Matt Funiciello have worked as prostitutes? That is very different than sitting behind a desk!

Yes - the media would have made this a national issue connecting it to every GOP candidate.

But seriously, prostitution is a great career starting point for Dem politicians. It’s the only way you can get them to stop talking, by giving them something else to do with their mouths.

In the debate for the US Senate, Republican Rick Lazio handed Hillary a sheaf of papers.......this innocent move was seen as an “insult” ... an “invasion of her space.”
