Baghdad (CNN) -- Leaders in Iraq's western Anbar province appealed Saturday for help from U.S. forces on the ground to halt the relentless advance of ISIS fighters.

The situation in the province, just to the west of Baghdad, is "very bad," the president of Anbar Provincial Council told CNN by phone on Saturday.

Sabah Al-Karhout said the council has intelligence that ISIS has dispatched as many as 10,000 fighters to Anbar from Syria and Mosul in northern Iraq.

The council's deputy head, Falleh al-Issawi, told CNN that it had asked the central government to intervene immediately to save the province from imminent collapse -- and to request the deployment of U.S. ground forces there.

Boot on the ground, huh?

Maybe if 0bola would have listened to his Military Commanders and left a residual force?

0bola alone is responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent Iraqis!

Don’t forget the responsibility of thousands of not-so-innocent Iraqi soldiers. You can’t defend a country with Sunni troops vs. ISIS, not when half of the troops are just looking for the best moment to defect to ISIS or run away. IMHO, we should support the Kurds 100%, even recognize a new nation. But the Sunnis and Shias will have to fight it out in Baghdad. No more U.S. troops. We wasted enough blood and treasure in Ramadi, Fallujah, Mosul etc.

That’s what they get when it is the height of Iraqi fashion to hate America.

Sucks to be them.

Maybe a taste of real Islam is the way to get ‘em to turn against Islam? But I kinda doubt it.

I think at this point, most of the Iraqi military is comprised of Shia troops, who seem rather worthless. That explains how the Sunni minority was able to dominate Iraq for so long....at least the Sunni’s fight.

No more U.S. troops

My feelings too. My main point is that we are being led by an incompetent, self-centered narcissist who's decision has led to numerous deaths and dishonors the brave troops who had already fallen.

We should just arm the Kurds and tell Iraq, Syria, and Turkey to suck it.

If Christians have already left, I would not put a single American soldier in jeopardy to defend a bunch of Muslims (except for the Kurds, who have never harmed others in the name of Allah).

My God, when will Iraq go away? Between their war with Iran in the 1980s, their invasion of Kuwait in 1990 and the subsequent Operation Desert Storm in 1991, the debate over not removing Saddam Hussein in 1992 during the presidential election, firing at NATO planes in the No Fly Zone and U.N. violations all throughout the rest of the 1990s, the Bush-led invasion in 2003, the years of occupation and insurgency after that, the 4,000 U.S. dead and 1.7 trillion cost after “we” left recently and now the ISIS here in 2014, I am just so fed up with hearing and reading about this one country

Leave Iraq alone, and let them stand or fall on their own. The U.S. has paid enough blood and treasure for them.

I hate to say this because it defies humanity. It might bedtime to drop the big one, wipe out the menace, call the collateral damage a sacrifice in the name of peace and move on.

Sounds to me somewhere between Baghdad and where the Kurds are is ISIS. The second one should be dropped a couple of days later in Syria.

Like Japan, they will rebuild.

My God, when will Iraq go away? ...The U.S. has paid enough blood and treasure for them.

While it's easy to give up on Iraq, there's no sense in the (re-named) al Qaida gaining more land bases to attack us, Western Civilization, and Israel.

Iraq shows no interest in destroying the many arms and vehicles that we gave or abandoned to them. Those munitions will be used by ISIS to attack Israel later.

A "contractor" friend trained many Iraqis to install Wi-Fi in Iraq. There's hope for those people, and abandoning them will mean more pain down the road—and just not for Iraqis. We must take the lead, and not "lead from behind", as Obama would have it.

Equally as important... Why aren’t the Iraqis themselves standing up to fight? When ISIS arrived, the US-trained and equipped Iraqi military cut and ran. They gave up the fight even before engaging the a$$hats from ISIS.
And, now they want us back?

Nah. Better we should target the military stores and equipment we left behind. At least deny it to the enemy.

Isn’t it time for the iraqis to defend them selves? If they aren’t up to it, I guess they die.
