RICHMOND — The son of a former Virginia state senator has told federal investigators that U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner discussed the possibility of several jobs, including a federal judgeship, for the senator’s daughter in an effort to dissuade him from quitting the evenly divided state Senate.

Big news in Virginia. Just saw this tweeted out by NRSC folks on Twitter. Most polls have Warner ahead of Gillespie in this race currently -- will this affect outcome?

Doubt it. I have not seem much from outside the state to give me hope. I don’t think it can be taken outside the margin of cheat.

W0W!!!
If you are not from virginia you may not realize the Warner has essentially been off the radar, hid for 5 1/2 year...never in the news. This is the first news he’s made.

Wow!
So serious the story is released through the WashPost for maximum spin.

And it’ll work. All the media will fallin line and squelch it.

Senator Mark Warner Corleone, ‘ if you do this favor for me the family will remember. Maybe I can arrange a federal judgeship for your daughter.’

I know that Gillespie has gone from 20 to 10 points behind in some recent polls; things have begun to tighten. I don’t think he has enough time to catch Warner however. Virginia polling is weird anyway. Cantor was supposedly 30 points ahead of Bratt when Bratt won. Perhaps Warner’s camp ought not be so complacent. On second thought.....may Warner remain very complacent!

The biggest issue is Gillespie’s inability to effectively tie Warner to Obama’s policies. Warner is so far up Obama’s rear end, he might as well be wearing an Obama suit.

Republicans overperform the polls in low turnout elections in VA. The democrats usually overperform in presidential elections. There is a large black vote. If they don’t turn out, Gillespie is still in it, though it is still a long shot. This story nreds yo go viral, but I still haven’t seen it.

Does VA have early voting? In states that do, any late momentum doesn't necessarily show up in actual voting.

I hate early voting.

NOVA has always been democrat. Suburbs have grown to the point that they control the state. Prince William, Loudon, Virginia Beach, Henrico, Chesapeake. These are the key. They have been voting dem lately, but they swing and are winnable. Maybe not against Mark Warner, but I wouldn’t say the state is done. Cuccinelli almost one last year despite being abandoned by the state and national GOP and being outspent 5-1.

Nope, no early voting. You have to go the absentee route.

I don’t want to burst a bubble, but this is not a new story. It has been in the news, and even posted here.

They always say the dem is winning by a large margin trying to discourage
Voter turnout. Dont listen vote Gillespie if u live in Virginia. This is not a 10 point race. Warner is worried.

I use to live in Loudon County (99-06) until I returned to my native NC. The state grew thanks to the tax cuts from George Allen and James Gilmore but people are just dumb. They pay $5,000 in property taxes and vote for this garbage.
