Moderation in principle means having none to speak of. My office used to have one Jewish men. The observant one left, leaving us with the one who is Jewish only by the technicality of having been born of a Jewish mother. In practice, the only two principles(?) I have seen him defend are (a) once a person is elected to government office, they can do no wrong, and (b) the law is always right.

I have not bothered asking him about the obvious counter-example of Germany of the last century. He would only make some irrelevant statement about how all politicians have flaws.
