Joe Raedle/Getty Images A man says Comcast contacted his employer and got him fired after he called to complain about the company's service.
The Consumerist reports that a man known as Conal complained to Comcast after he was billed for services he didn't actually have. After Conal's complaint, the company promised him extra television channels as a make-good but instead sent him a variety of equipment he didn't need.
Conal complained to Comcast again after he was billed $1,820 for the surplus hardware. This is where things get interesting. Conal, who says he works for a large American accountancy firm, compiled a spreadsheet showing every erroneous charge he had received from Comcast, which he sent to the company.
Comcast then apparently refused to reverse the error, so in February 2014, Conal decided to try something else. Being an accountant, Conal contacted Comcast's comptroller, the office that looks after the company accounts. He said he repeatedly called them about his bill, telling them that Comcast should be investigated by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
The Consumerist says that after this, Comcast got in touch with Conal's employer.

Didn’t happen.
He’s a liar...
Wouldn’t be so sure given what I’ve seen of Comcast’s business practices in the past.
“After Conal’s termination, his employer, the accounting company, said it had received an email from Comcast summarizing their conversations.”
Well they definitely contacted his employer, according to his employer’s own admission. It’s not so hard to believe he was fired after that ...
The article says that Comcast was a client of the firm he worked for. If true the guys an idiot.
So, if a client of yours overcharged you $1,800, would you be an idiot for calling the client and detailing the issue, or for filing a lawsuit against the client?
Comcast is the slimiest company on earth. Every complaint you hear is true and much of what others have experienced happened to me when I had Comcast.
Never again!
Next up he’s selling a bridge in Brooklyn.
From the article. Perhaps that is where he messed up - the average guy probably never heard of this board - and he may very well have name-dropped the name of the company for whom he worked.
It doesn't say he returned the surplus equipment.
Lots of holes in the story.
CPA firms have a unique relationship with their clients based on mutual respect and trust. If an employee of the accounting firm had a problem with a client, it would be proper for the employee to bring the matter to his bosses attention before going postal on a client. Most CPA firms will have detailed policies about doing business with clients.
If you gave me a choice of watching TV with comcast or a tank filled with sea monkeys the brine shrimp win every time.

He may only have learned his firm had Comcast as a client after he got fired.
Use to work for them.
Don’t think so....
Comcast sucks.
Direct TV sucks.
Dish Network sucks.
Verizon sucks.
No One is happy with the old soft shoe they give you.
Comcast never was all that bright. They’ll be paying major bucks for that little screwup.
He was offered free service, not extra equipment that he would be charged for. Comcast is involved in explicit fraud in this situation.
He not have been able to return the extra equipment in time to get a refund.
If I were an American, I’d certainly have nothing to do with thus company if I could help it.
I’ve been quite happy with Verizon, whether for ordinary wifi/cable/wired phone service, FiOS, or mobile. I’ve had no trouble with performance or billing.
I have no personal experience other than seeing 3/4s of the people in Verizon stores disputing their billing.
Maybe he was doing all this on COMPANY time and using COMPANY letterheads etc etc......
I know that if someone has been going through all this on MY dime, he/she would probably be looking for another place to conduct his ‘personal projects’.
My thoughts exactly
