Spanish nurse being tested for Ebola contracted in Madrid - media

MADRID (Reuters) - A Spanish nurse who treated a priest in Madrid who died of Ebola is suspected to be the first case of the disease contracted outside West Africa, media in Spain reported on Monday, citing sources within the country's health authorities.

Spanish newspaper El Pais and radio Cadena Ser were among those who said the nurse had tested positive for Ebola in initial tests and officials were awaiting final results.

No one was immediately available in Madrid's health department to confirm the reports.

Guess so, or vaporized particles from body fluid eruptions that had dispersed. We don’t even know if people that live in areas of Africa with Ebola have a genetically predisposed resistance to it (it may have been around earlier than 1976) and those dying from it in Africa may have a quirk in their DNA which makes them susceptible to it.

The Western world may NOT. We don’t know. Unless of course it was engineered, which then “they would know”.

The Govt. can’t claim “settled science” on this. I remember while in high school reading about those containment labs in which they store the lethal viruses. Layer after layer of hazmat wear and ventilation systems with negative pressure. Reading about the labs was enough to scare me off about a career in viral research.

I also read when she followed the ambulance to the hospital, she took the blanket she had been wrapping him up in. She apparently tried to give it to the paramedics because he was cold but they would not allow it in the ambulance. I would have thought we would have heard more about her and her family. In fact the last report I read about her was an interview where she was saying CDC was pretty much leaving her out to dry.

Don’t know about this Zmapp stuff, but the doctor probably does not have Ebola resurfacing. My guess is pneumonia. But in any case they seemed pretty sure he is just suffering from another ailment, undoubtedly allowed by his weakened condition.

I thought so too... which is why I ended up sending her to the Univeristy Hospital -_-
They put her in an obstetrics room at the time... we are guessing because they were very busy, but even the physician who attended to her was confused why she was in stirrups for a shin gash. While Madrid has become a bit third world for my taste, Barcelona I thought would have been comp to Germany. We don’t know why, but they refused her antibiotics... Europe tends to be a bit paranoid regarding the overuse of antibiotics... which I understand..but if you cut yourself on a public escalator, one would think they’d see the necessity.

Yes, and apparently that is the only thing to worry about then.

I do have to wonder - does he have to keep ejaculating to be rid of it (i.e., being chaste is not going to help and it won’t just dissipate)? If so, how does he ejaculate? In an isolated clean room?

The virus can be transmitted even in high security environments.

The ward was prepared with the most advanced technology in order to avoid any possible contagion, and now it happens that a nurse has caught it.

Not even an airborne virus like flu should have infected the nurse.

Hard to believe the infection can spread this fast only by “contact” with bodily fluids.
