MADRID (Reuters) - A Spanish nurse who treated a priest in Madrid who died of Ebola is suspected to be the first case of the disease contracted outside West Africa, media in Spain reported on Monday, citing sources within the country's health authorities.
Spanish newspaper El Pais and radio Cadena Ser were among those who said the nurse had tested positive for Ebola in initial tests and officials were awaiting final results.
No one was immediately available in Madrid's health department to confirm the reports.

You first.
yes
Eh...we had a guy power washing vomit of the sidewalk that was deposited there from our Dallas patient.
I don’t think Spain has a market on lapses...lol
well ebola in a few more weeks should provide some fast breaking needs...lol
Power washing ebola on the sidewalk drove it into drains. I think. If so, ebola now lurks somewhere in the underground sewer system.
Hypothetical, because I do not understand how sewer systems work — it never interested me in the slightest before now. But I did read The Hot Zone, and learned that ebola was tracked down to a deep and very dark cave in africa.
Well the NBC reporter/Photog thinks he contracted it while washing their vehicle that thought to be contaminated.
so....
We know it likes water...
Overconfidence in personal protection. Look to Youngor Jallah and her family. Plenty of contact there. She went on sunday (Sep 28) and took his temp and BP, sat him up in bed and fed him hot tea. She was conscious of cleanliness and disinfected the apartment afterwards (days before the state Texas got around to it). She had zero protection, but was just very careful (trained as a nurses aide).
She is in day 8 after contact. Duncan had symptoms on day 9 and was obvious by 10/11. So she has a couple days to go and then we will know if she got infected back on that Sunday or not.
I think that I’d like to go to Iceland to help monitor the Volcano.
This later thread has a GOOD READ article. (FR_addict)

That photographer is a farce. Other than some freelancing with NBC he was a social justice advocate in Liberia for the past two years. He probably rode around in cabs and got it well before any NBC car washing. He was hired as an employee on Tuesday and diagnosed on Wed. In all likelihood they already knew when they hired him.
Didn't know that. Apparently, the "officials" in charge in Dallas don't have a clue either.
For anyone interested, The Hot Zone is available for free download. Reston, Va Ebola.

I am in such an Ebola-info-overload.
Eh not sure...where did u hear of this day before disclosure hire?
lol yeah that link to the doctor was good info though. Just by touching his IV link?
Dang thanks for the update~
Actually, Spanish hospitals are pretty good... if they’re private hospitals. Spanish general hospitals are like county or state general hospitals anywhere, that is, overcrowded and nearly useless.
I’m surprised that University Hospital was so bad, though. They’re actually a leading research hospital, but of course, that may not go all the way down the line.
Mukpo was hired Tuesday to be a second cameraman for NBC News Chief Medical Editor and Correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman. He tested positive for Ebola on Thursday and thinks he may have been infected prior to that when he was helping spray down a vehicle used to transport a victim.
