I contacted United and asked if they were going to stop flights to/from these Ebola affected African countries.
The agent was extremely rude and said “let me see what our restrictions are, at this time”. He proceeded to shuffle through papers and mumbled something about “no, only restrictions, or warnings, we currently have are in Cabo (Mexico) and, blah...blah”.
I asked, again, if there was a policy regarding Ebola, specifically...and why they weren’t stopping these flights. He said that “the government won’t allow them to stop these flights” and that their “policy” was to refer anyone with additional questions to the CDC.
I cancelled our upcoming United flights.
I hope others will follow your lead and cancel their plans to fly someplace.
Until the airlines get hit in the pocketbook, they will keep flying into and from West Africa.
You have started the right track. If people here stop flying United and the pilots/flight attendants refuse to board people from the hot zones, we will get real change.
Otherwise Obama business as usual.
in about two weeks UAL will be collectively hyperventilating. Delta will be close behind.
Around Thanksgiving they’ll be scrambling and by Christmas they’ll be scraping and they won’t survive.
Next year they’ll be a memory.
Greed in a case like this drives insanity , illogical reasoning and deception.
And that does not go well with customers of airlines.
And it will be because they should’ve stopped flights a month ago.
It’s too late.
Their brand is all over this Dallas deal. Wait til the secondaries start reporting in, then the tertiaries.
United is stupid on this.
Hi Jane, I told my husband today that he’s not going on anymore airplane trips. He didn’t argue with me at all about it. With previous air travel, he’d bring home some cold-flu plague and I’d get it. When I think of all the normal filth and disease on planes and in airports... and add this new deadly one...no way is anyone bringing that to my doorstep.
The airlines are going to take a well-deserved beating on this. They can thank B.Hussein O’Bola for it.
Can the government force airlines to fly certain flights?
