IN THE MIDDLE of a disease outbreak, panic and fear can themselves be a destructive force. When the Ebola virus first broke out in West Africa, governments dropped the ball and were unable to contain the dread, leading people to take action such as evading quarantine that spread the infections. A core requirement of managing a crisis like this is that public health officials and political leaders maintain the publics confidence.
This premise applies just as well to the United States as it does to Africa, and in recent days, a significant misstep in Dallas has shaken that confidence.
Ebola presents a frightening challenge from nature, but it can be stopped. The United States enjoys one of the most advanced and robust health-care systems in the world, capable of isolating Ebola patients when they arrive and halting transmission. But it is going to require zero tolerance for oversights like that which appears to have occurred in Dallas. Other U.S. hospitals including those in the Washington area evaluating possible Ebola cases must take a lesson.

When Obama’s in charge mistakes can and will be repeated indefinitely, and worst mistakes are on the way shortly.
The game of Ebola Roulette continues...
*click* spin *click* spin *click* spin BANG!
Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!
Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
All flights from ebola countries and connecting flights need to be stopped.
I’m more than certain the public wants this done. So where are their representatives?????
Ebola is to Africa,
What the Obama presidency is to America.
“Maintenance of public trust” implies that you had it to begin with, and that not present under the Obama Administration.
The CDC guy is just Baghdad Bob in a smock.
Notice WaPo calls for “zero tolerance” but not does not call for any travel restriction on people coming into the United States from places where the contagion is out of control.
Zero tolerance against whom? Some triage nurse in Podunk City who isn’t 100% on the ball? As we saw in Dallas, by the time an ebola infected person shows up at an emergency room chances are many people have already come in contact with him or her.
The public wants our borders closed or tightened also...
Well obviously we need martial law.
Sure they can, keep watching
A simple question:
Why are we not hearing about similar Ebola stories in Europe?
Why no stories about passengers vomiting in the airplane at Amsterdam, London, or Zurich?
Why are the only ebola stories happening in the USA?
The airlines doing flights into west Africa go thru Europe. Therefore, Europe should be having a pandemic of ebola incidents. Why not?
Those bozos down at the WaPo must have some serious cases of chapped lips with all of the ‘RAT ass kissing they do.
Will Ebola be covered by Obamacare?
“”but not does not call for any travel restriction on people coming into the United States from places where the contagion is out of control.””
It occurs to me now that no one of “color” arriving on any plane into the U. S., will be looked at twice. I think the FAA and airlines would have sense enough to be color blind with this disease traveling the world but it would probably be Homeland Security calling the shots and you know they will be PC about the rules....
Seems to me the Ebola virus is what Democrats love more than anything on this Earth, A CRISIS.
IS, or is NOT Obama trying to get the people of this Nation to demand MORE government by not doing the things necessary to stop the spread of this deadly virus? Is this CRISIS being used by the Democrats as they use every crisis to make some gain towards their agenda?
Will Obama use this to blame Republicans for cutting the budget in favor of smaller government?
Seriously I don’t know. Just askin’.
