I dunno. Seems to me that natural market forces would dictate that if you've got something that is rare, and is highly sought after by a desperate customer base, you're gonna make money selling it.
How much would you be willing to pay for a dose of this drug, if your kid just came down with the symptoms for Ebola? I'll bet (like me) you'd pay whatever it cost.
Aspirin is 'off patent' too, but billions of tablets are sold every year for a profit.
