Rep. Cárdenas tells PJM that temporarily freezing visas from affected nations would be "reacting in an alarmed fashion."
WASHINGTON Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-Calif.), a member of the House Budget Committee, said education is the best way for the federal government to respond to the Ebola outbreak, rather than reduce the number of U.S. visas granted to citizens of West Africa nations.
Cárdenas also said the Ebola crisis demonstrates that reducing spending is the wrong approach.
I think the best response is education. We have the best system of preventative measures in the world but yet at the same time we need to educate the communities, so I think its important that we not act in an alarmed fashion but just have responsible, methodical education, said Cárdenas at the Noche de Gala for the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts on Wednesday night.

U.S. health officials estimated on Thursday that the Liberian man hospitalized for Ebola in Texas had contact with as many as 100 people. The man was reportedly visiting the U.S. on a tourist visa. Cárdenas was asked if the U.S. should temporarily stop issuing visas to West African nations affected by Ebola.
Again, that would be reacting in an alarmed fashion. I think that what we ought to do is education domestically and also education abroad and make sure that we have the kind of communication and the honesty with us and other governments that we need to be making sure that they understand the seriousness of it, and then respond after we find out if they are acting responsibly, Cárdenas responded. Then, we can go ahead and be more trusting, ......

Best response of the year! Thank you for saying what has to be said, repeated, broadcast, and etched in stone.
It’s time to send Tony home. Deport the bass turd. America is a “refugee” camp, not an insane asylum to the world.
Thats it. These people are utterly beyond redemption. There will be war.
They just... can’t... resist!
And they would also offer their mother's soul for the good of the party!
I am confused, I thought GW caused IS.
Didn’t they change the name to “climate change”? It’s like ISIL vs ISIS - and “Not Islam” True, 47% of the voting public just gets their slack jaw on and says, “ yeah, evil republicans, that’s the ticket!”
Exactly! Oh My! It takes years to educate if you can.
Rush nailed it.
BS. I thought it was all due to gore bull warming, the TEA party, right wing radicals, pro gun advocates, Bible thumping conservatives, clingers to the Constitution and all legislation that is anti progressive leftist ideas!!
It is a remarkable trait that they possess.
sure, sure, if we turn everyone into Ebola PhD’s and banish the whole notion of fear and prudence, hey, I’m sure there will be just no problem at all.
for example:
if you study the national debt in fine detail, then you stop being afraid, and then there’s no more problem, right?
same with gravity:
if you get a PhD in Newtonian physics when you can jump off the top of the Empire State Building.
I’m sure of it.
Why not negotiate with Cárdenas? We could allow anyone travel from west Africa to the US PROVIDING they spend 28 days in Mexico enroute. See if he likes that idea.
From what I have seen of Ferguson, Missouri - Detroit-Chicago-Memphis, and so on, I fail to see how this utopian dreamer thinks “education” is the answer.
The very fabric of society has unraveled, and when the “gibsmedats” folk get riled up, mayhem will unfold.
Maybe we all need some of what this dreamer is smoking, just to tolerate his “bloviating”?
Democrats are going to allow ebola to burn through a poor minority community for no other reason than it gives them an issue to campaign on.
Democrats trying to kill this nation.
This racist Cárdenas got a little bit of everything into his rant including diversity but for some reason La Raza was never mentioned.
I’d bet he’s closely affiliated with them.
Ebola spread to the US because a Liberian man lied about his exposure to the illness in order to get on a plane and fly to the US. Dumping more money into the public schools would have prevented this how?
