Scouts honor: Not until today, having read the words of the man himself, have I sincerely believed he might run again. The RomneyWatch posts are fun to write but not because Mitt 2016 was a real thing I thought. They were fun because it wasnt a real thing. It was a way to collectively pretend-scare ourselves, like playing with a ouija board.
Now, suddenly, I look down and the planchette is moving by itself. And it spells M-I-T-T.
This was the obvious opening for me to ask if there was a chance. Romneys response was decidedly meta I have nothing to add to the story but he then fell into the practiced political parlance of nondenial. Weve got a lot of people looking at the race, he said. Well see what happens.

And Mitt, be sure to use McCain’s campaign staff again. They’re experts at losing.
Don't shoot the messenger. I know this is not what Freepers want to hear. But nobody else in the GOP has stepped up to the plate. There is no Ronald Reagan waiting in the wings. It's going to be another "my turn again" election cycle: Mitt vs Hillary.
Most Freepers are buzzing about Ted Cruz but I don't see Cruz gaining traction outside our circle. We like him but most others don't. Same deal with Sarah Palin. Would love to see her as our next president but it's just not going to happen.
Nobody has yet stepped up to the plate by September of 2014, just before the midterm elections?
Golly gee, Romney must be the man then.
Not very subtle are you?

Nobody comes out of nowhere to win the presidency these days. In order to have a chance, you need to be lining up resources and putting an organization into place well before the mid-terms. We all know that.
You are joking right?
You think this argument in 2014, is good cover for you pushing Romney for 2016?
I really like Scott Walker right now, at least as far as I can 'like' someone who has not formally announced for anything, and won't for at least another half year.
Sadly the republican party is loaded with no chance aspirants who muddy the waters for real Conservative Republicans and waste precious money and resources during the primaries while the dems will usually have three candidates at the most.
That was a quick dismissal. Niche candidates?
Cruz handles hecklers and press well. He doesn’t let them get away with anything.
I like Walker as well but I don’t think he is quite as good with a hostile press a Cruz. I could be wrong but managing the media is a requirement.
And as much I love Sarah, she simply doesn’t have the right voice to tongue lash the media.
Its still early and I’d like to see a few more entries before deciding. But Romney, Bush or any other GOPe selection is out of the question.
Indeed. They pretty much are determined to get a Dem elected one way or another.
They're a laugh riot, aren't they? First they bash Palin in the press after McCain's face-plant in November 2008. After that, last year, one of McCain's aides was running his mouth about how he hates Cruz. Then most recently, one of McCain's loser former aides (Salter) had the gall to lecture Rand Paul about electablity. You know, the guy who worked on the campaign that saw its opponent secure over 350 electoral votes.
If I didn't already think poorly of John McCain, I would do so just by the company he keeps.
Go to Effing Hell or Kolob for that matter...
And as much I love Sarah, she simply doesnt have the right voice to tongue lash the media.

I disagree.
I watched Sarah at the Values Voters Summit. Unfortunately, she does have a high and squeaky voice. Her enunciation and timing could stand improvement, but how do you fix her voice?
I really hate to even talk about superficial stuff like this but it is a consideration we cannot afford to overlook. A commanding and authoritative voice is what is needed to put the press and snippy moderators in their place.
Yes, I do. Also I stopped beating my wife yesterday as she can attest!
Mitt, thanks for all the fish. Now, stay the hell home.
When the conversation turns to his loss, he becomes silent, morose, ... Yeah, Bonehead would have shoulder to cry on.
Well I think you’re allowing your preference for Cruz to get in the way.
I’m all for him, but please you really don’t need to criticize Palin.
That’s just ... well I don’t think it is what we should be doing.
Keep things positive, about a few candidates. We have a few who are uniquely qualified.
I agree with you on the jobs issue but I won't vote for Myth Romney in my lifetime or in God's lifetime no matter who he runs against and no matter what lies he spews.
Yes, Mitt, if you were running for RE-election 2016 you should be running.
but now, please don’t. You are an “also-ran”
