Oh, I think yours was actually a pretty good point (well, except for the "innocent victim" part). It's notable that there isn't any rioting or the like over this sort of thing, especially since that was clearly what Bush II was afraid of, although he never really did come off that ROP schtick and I suspect he might really believe it, God help him.

But it does happen - your Ferguson point, again - and it happens in this country, and if it starts happening with respect to Muslim terror it will be more than one city. Bush was right to fear it, I think, but entirely wrong not to modify his position once it became obvious that we weren't going to be massacring other Americans in the street over the thing (at least not yet). "ROP" has become a marketing point by now and those of us who know better - that would be nearly everyone on FR - are more than a little sick of it. 0bama knows better, too, but he isn't sick of it, he loves it.
