McCain gets ready for race of his life (just retire already!!)

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has begun to have serious conversations with state officials and local powerbrokers about running for a sixth term in the Senate.

The longtime Republican senator is expected to face a tougher challenger and would be a major target for Tea Party groups given his support for a Senate immigration bill granting a path to citizenship for undocumented workers.

And McCain, who turned 78 last month, has at times suggested he’s willing to hang it up, telling the entertainment website The Wrap earlier this year that he didn’t “want to be one of these old guys that should’ve shoved off.” But more recently, McCain has given every indication that he wants to stay in the upper chamber, even after three decades as a senator.

“I’m leaning toward it,” McCain told The Hill when asked about running for re-election.

“I’m doing all the things necessary to do so,” McCain says of a reelection bid. “A good fundraising quarter. A lot of meetings and talking to a lot of people in the state, the usual preparations in the state.”

The 2008 GOP presidential candidate met Friday in Phoenix with “key supporters” to plan his re-election race, a McCain aide said.

And McCain says whether Republicans win a Senate majority in November won’t “particularly” make a difference in his decision.

McCain faced a primary challenger in 2010, just two years after Barack Obama defeated him for the White House.

He easily fought off former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, defeating him by 25 points after pouring $25 million into the face.

Nothing shows what is wrong with Washington more than the fact that a 78 year old wants to run for office again.

There are few things worse than a politician who wants to die in office.

You might know, Juan has been bashing 0bama lately in the press, so he must be running again. Once he's back in it will be back to , "You have nothing to fear from an 0bama presidency."

Please AZ, just put this guy out to pasture already!!!! What is he about 106 now?

re: Who keeps voting for these senile RINO’s?

Not me. I never voted for Cochran (or Lott) when I lived in Mississippi and I for damn sure haven’t voted for McCain since I moved to Arizona.
I have to admit, I did make the mistake of voting for Jeff Flake. ONCE! But I can assure you that will never happen again.

Why don't these guys retire and take advantage of the generous pension packages they created for themselves while they still have time to enjoy them.

Oh. Right. Because if they leave they will have to live under the laws they've passed for the rest of us.

Never mind.

“There are few things worse than a politician who wants to die in office.”

Ted Kennedy was a senator for life. Robert Byrd was a senator for life. Ted Stevens wanted to be a senator for life. Arlen Specter wanted to be a senator for life (he was dead within two years of being out of power), Strom Thurmond was a senator till he was 100, then he died. John McCain wants to do the same (his mother is still alive at 102).

They want an aristocratic House of Lords, and they go all out to keep power for themselves or their ilk.

It’s hard to believe that he was the presidential nominee just six years ago. It seems like a dream to me now...

On a brighter note, we may have a chance to beat the GOPe this time around, if Romney is nominated. The big money will be split between Romney and Christie. Jeb may even run, to split it three ways. He’d most likely bow out for the cause, but he may want it too much. Christie will never bow out. His convention speech proved, beyond any doubt, that it’s all about him.

On our side, Cruz is the obvious choice, and he should grow stronger with debates and media exposure. Rand seems to be on a suicide campaign.

What we REALLY need is for “MRS. G” (Mark, Rush, Sean and Glenn) to support him EARLY.

Is Mrs. G listening?

US to McDork:

Seppuku.

Look it up.

Do it.

It’ll help us immensely, whilst raising the IQ of the country and ridding us of one (of many) pieces of excrement in our gubmit.

Am I a constitutional conservative that is not actively participating in my local Republican party, strongly speaking my mind and presenting arguments in our favor? Are there many others like me?

Then, I can say nothing about MCCain still being in politics. Or about Romney. Or about Boner.

Once this degenerate bad pilot is out of office no one will kiss his a** anymore or put his mug before a camera. I believe the clown couldn’t live with that.
