CANADENSIS, Pa. Nine days after a gunman opened fire in a deadly ambush at a state police barracks, authorities have had no contact with the suspect they describe as a self-taught survivalist despite an intensive search that shut down the heavily wooded community where he lived with his parents.
Though a shelter-in-place order had been lifted in the Pocono Mountains community where police have focused their search, they continued to urge residents to be vigilant Sunday as the manhunt continues for Eric Frein.
Frein's father, retired Army Maj. E. Michael Frein, told police that he had taught his son to shoot. He "doesn't miss," the father told state police during a search of the family home, when he also disclosed that an AK-47 and a .308 rifle with a scope were missing. A copy of the book, "Sniper Training and Employment," was found in his bedroom.

Most likely, it will end that way. I’m glad the locals can now leave their houses again. One cannot stay under siege for very long with frequent and convincing justification. Just ask the law enforcement in Liberia, now trying to quarantine possible Ebola patients. Some of the infected are heading for the hills, and hiding in the jungles vs be locked up in their homes.
Problems, we’ve got’em.
How did it all go so wrong for this man? Is this a case of mental illness, something that he was fated to live with, or PTSD of some kind? Did he keep this of his nature hidden from everyone, family included?
Roger that.
The “state of seige” could push other antigovernment/”survivalist” types over the edge.

Hmmm. .that twitter post was removed. Others that said seeing armed men running through neighborhood also removed.
DUH!
He might be able to access Twitter while on the run....can't take any chances.
Rudolph was arrested in Murphy, North Carolina, on May 31, 2003, by rookie police officer Jeffrey Scott Postell of the Murphy Police Department behind a Save-A-Lot store at about 4 a.m.; Postell, on routine patrol, had originally suspected a burglary in progress.
Possible ..
Probable.
Friday night authorities asked people to stop listening to the scanner feeds or turn the volume very low because “if you can hear it he might hear it”.
They found one of his rifles today.
They are currently ringing a suspect wooded area with spotlights
Fixed.
It was an AK-47, as reported in the Times-Tribune.
I’ve heard all about the man hunt for this guy, but I’ve heard nothing of why they suspect him of shooting the officers.
Anyone heard why they suspect him?
You misinterpreted. They didn’t find the rifle today. They had the press conference today where they said they had found the rifle in the woods, but they didn’t find it today.
Troopers found 4 shell casings at the shooting scene at the barracks. They then found his jeep stuck in a retention pool in the woods where he was driving through a path to get away after the shooting. There were casings in the jeep that matched those at the scene along with his I.D. The jeep was also registered to his parents. When troopers searched the parents house where Frein also lived, they found more casings in the garage. All three sets of casings show the same toolmarks so they know they were all shot from the same weapon.
My guess is this nutjob has one shot left (giving away his position). Here’s hoping he misses.
They actually found it near his car. So they are no closer today to him than they were a week ago.
The local yokels are shooting guns at night causing the cops to chase their tails
Well, one may deduce....he’s not the brightest bulb in the package.
