The co-founder of PayPal and likely the most successful venture capitalist in Silicon Valley is on a mission to change the world through technology and to find a cure for death
An hour into my conversation with Peter Thiel the conversation turns, as it seems conversations with Thiel often do, to the question of death. Basically, Thiel says earnestly, Im against it.

if he’s pro-choice he’s a big fat liar.
He does do some good in the world, cultivating and supporting high school tech entrepreneurs as he does. His suspect motivation in wanting to do this aside, some medical benefit in dealing with aging may come of it, so long as he doesn’t fall prey to that ghoulish fixation upon fetal stem cells or organ donation. So, I’m not inclined to be negative about Thiel, not at present and not unless something truly objectionable comes to light. If so, I’ll reconsider at that point.
Im certain that hes a dyed in the wool feminist type.
there are more male feminists in California than there are female feminists in most small states combined...
If he’d send me a few million, I’d experiment on how to live more fully prior to death.
Promoting Health....is a rational Idea
Eliminating Death....maybe not so much
“It is appointed for every man to die once and then the judgement”. He won’t be able to avoid it, whatever the technology.
He is 2,000 years too late. A man from Bethlehem in Judea defeated death then and provided a way for us to do the same.
no comprehende...
If there were treatments that stopped progressive diseases and stopped the genetic aging cycle of the human body bringing about very long life it would be a game changer in one sense. During the initial generation where it became available, the cost and locations for availability would make economic access and political control really change what individuals strive for in their working life.
The economic and power struggles of individuals would greatly increase with a less finite life available to those winning the struggle.
Living under socialism sure makes like SEEM longer..............
Peter Thiel has been a big backer of Ron Paul and Ted Cruz.
I guess when you have more money than you’d ever need you turn to worrying about how much time you have left.
It’s just in the fallen human nature to never have enough money, time, etc.
Poor guy.
If he will turn to Christ then he won’t want a perpetual existence on earth.
If there were a guaranteed vitamin to permanently prevent death I wouldn’t take it. NO WAY!
I like it that the guys who have changed the world through technology are now going after bigger even more interesting problems. Bezos wants to compete and surpass NASA. Richard Branson isn’t exactly in the same league, but he is trying to get into space. Thiel wants to crack the aging code.
This is, for me, very cool.
I have no fear of physical death, I’m already going to live forever. But among the things we are here on earth for is to learn, build, create. These guys could focus on building ever bigger houses and buying ever faster cars, but they probably already have them. So what now? Go after the mysteries of the physical universe.
It’s been known for some time that a near-starvation diet slows the aging process, but I suspect that isn’t what he and others are after, lol.
That’s the only one I know of who did that as well.
Oh, he’s “pro life”. He is pro “his” life. how he feels about others is unknown.

BINGO!!!
An extended lifespan will be useful for interstellar space travel. If the voyage to a star takes two hundred years, it would be good if some of the passengers who embarked could actually finish the journey - not just their great-great-grandchildren.
