(Reuters) - California Governor Jerry Brown on Friday vetoed two bills that aimed to make baby diaper changing tables in public restrooms as accessible to men as they are to women.
The bills, which recently passed the state's senate and assembly chambers with broad support, would have modified existing state laws to ensure public places, such as movie theatres and shopping malls, have baby changing tables in both mens's and women's restrooms.
"At a time when so many have raised concerns about the number of regulations in California, I believe it would be more prudent to leave the matter of diaper changing stations to the private sector," Brown said.

“need 2 year budget cycle, 1-house, 90 day session every other year. Legislator.”
California started heading down the road to ruin at full speed, once the government got the voters to approve a “full-time” legislature. Now these guys work for the Marxist “utopia” 24/7 and they get paid enough so they don’t have to have real jobs.
I agree with you on the gun law.
I still don’t think he objected to the changing table because it was nonsensical. It’s not that big a deal either way. It was blocked. That’s good IMO.
I think I’d go farther on my state than you did. I wasn’t trying to defend Brown. He’s an idiot.
A for anyone coming out of California in the way of politics, you have my sympathy. I don’t like it either.
I don’t think it’s too many politicians with way too much free time on their hands as it is there’s too many damned Democrats in California. Free time, or not this is what Democrats think, and do to us. They can’t help it. Genes, of something.
Is Kalifornia that far behind the times? I’ve seen many a public restroom with changing tables in the men’s room - no law needed to know that men also take care of their children and aren’t always accompanied by a woman.
I suppose he really vetoed the bill to open the door form men to be able to stroll through women’s rest rooms to do some “window shopping”.
