All male universities are vilified by the same people who claim that there is a right and a need for all female universities.

As the rule making body for golf ( except in the USA ) the R & A is in a somewhat unique position compared to other private clubs. There are hundreds of thousands of women who play golf in countries covered by R & A rules so it’s equitable that they have a say in the way the rules are written. There are women members on the executive committee of the USGA.
