The US health system needs major reform to ensure high-quality, affordable, and sustainable end-of-life care for Americans, according to a new Institute of Medicine (IOM) report called Dying in America: Improving Quality and Honoring Individual Preferences Near the End of Life.
The 507-page document was released on September 17, 2014, and reports recommendations developed during the past two years by a 21-member national committee. The committee included representatives from various fields involved in end-of-life care: doctors, nurses, religious leaders, geriatric specialists, insurers, and lawyers.
The study was supported by an anonymous donor whose identity remained unknown to the committee.

Off course, this will be enforced strictly in red states.
Blue states and illegals will get special dispensation.
"At the foundation of our civil liberties lies
the principle that denies to government officials
an exceptional position before the law and which
subjects them to the same rules of conduct
that are commands to the citizen."
Justice Louis D. Brandeis
The left seems to often equate old age with white conservative.
Obamacare is based on government regulated private insurance with inflated cost.
Forcing private insurance to deny treatment will help the bottom line of private insurance companies since they won’t have to pay out.
MAKING PEOPLE BUY MORE EXPENSIVE PRIVATE INSURANCE UNDER OBAMACARE INCREASES CASH FLOW INTO PRIVATE INSURANCE, ORDERING DENIAL OF TREATMENT WILL ALSO KEEP MORE CASH IN THE HANDS OF PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES.
Under the emotional political talk and progressive bells and whistles of it, what’s the real story of Obamacare or Romneycare, political dealing between special interests and politicians???????
I read about this in an NYTimes article. The comments after the article were supportive of end-of- life decisions with the Dr having the most control. EVERY COMMENT LISTED supported ‘right-to-die’ the way one wanted. One commenter even slammed his parents for ‘wanting to live to age 90’. Leftists do not hold life sacred. That is why this country is in it’s current state.
Once the leftist has moved out of their parent’s basement, they have no use for their folks.
>> Leftists do not hold life sacred
The Left feels empowered through death. The right to kill human life is fundamental to its reasoning.
The old way is the best way. You keep your elders with you until you can no longer sustain them. We had my father-in-law until 4 years ago when he passed at 98. We still have my 100 yr. old bed/wheelchair bound mother-in-law who also has dementia. We take care of them in they’re old age like they took care of us when we were children. This cannot work for everyone but it works for us.
It is the most humane way to treat our parents. It is also more economical for society as there are far fewer end of life costs to the tax payer.
I agree.
One of my concerns is that such decent behavior will be made illegal and called "cruel". You might be arrested, and aging parents could be removed to a "safe" hospital where they could be **ahem** "properly cared for".
We live in dark times, and I think they will get darker.
That’s awesome. Good for you.
There are no Death Panels. Period.
