The 9/11/2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya is back in the spotlight today on Capitol Hill as lawmakers from the select committee prepare to hold their first public hearing.
Led by Republican South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy, members of the Committee have been working for months to interview witnesses and to gather more information about what happened the night Americans Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, Tyrone Woods and Sean Smith were killed by terrorists.
Today Assistant Secretary for Diplomatic Security Greg Starr, Chairman of the Independent Panel on Best Practices Mark J. Sullivan and former Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection Todd Keil will testify.
As Chairman Gowdy has said, he is willing to risk answering the same question twice rather than risk it not be answered at all. Since all documents responsive to Congressional inquiries into the Benghazi terrorist attack have not been produced, it is fair to say that not all questions have been asked and answered," Gowdy Communications Director Jamal D. Ware released in a statement yesterday. Chairman Gowdy is leading a fair, fact-based and impartial investigation. The Committee will consider all evidence, across all jurisdictions, and produce the final, definitive accounting on behalf of Congress of what happened before, during and after the terrorist attacks on our facilities in Benghazi."
"Chairman Gowdy sincerely hopes that all sides will not prejudge the outcome of the investigationbefore even the Committees first hearing, which is on a topic suggested by the Democratsand instead allow a constructive and thorough investigatory process that produces a final report on Benghazi that is beyond any doubt. Chairman Gowdy is committed to a process and result worthy of the sacrifice of the four Americans who were killed in Benghazi and worthy of the trust of our fellow citizens, Ware continued.
This hearing comes just days after a report was published by investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson showing senior aides to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were ordered to separate and withhold damning documents from investigators.
and these hearings are being aired on all MSM channels - like the Iran-Contra ones were - day in and day out - oh wait
(are they being streamed anywhere?
What were 30+ CIA guys doing in Benghazi?
Pretty boring day of testimony about administrative methods but Gowdy is a pro and he’s simply painting the big picture.
>>What were 30+ CIA guys doing in Benghazi?
This is a make-or-break proposition for Gowdy. Something tells me he has a lot of people deposed and subpoenaed and is going to take it to Hillary.
That’s still not the point.
We need to know why those guys were there, because it will explain the monstrous stonewall. Was Obama sending stingers to isis?
And where are they today? There were scattered reports of 30 - 40 rescued with some brought back under assumed names in hospital and kept away from investigators, but I never saw where the Congress was able to track them down and question them.
And what was President Obama doing in the White House the night of 9/11/12?

I have only one question after watching most of the hearing today: Who was the man sitting next to Trey Gowdy and what has he done with Elijah Cummings? He seemed respectful, asked some good questions, and didn’t once throw a tantrum (during the period I was able to watch). I thought he made positive contributions to the hearing, and I was quite surprised. Guess I hadn’t seen that side of Mr. Cummings before.
Guess I hadnt seen that side of Mr. Cummings before.

I heard that Trey had told everyone on the committee that there would be NO speeches; that everyone was restricted to asking questions to elicit answers, and that party partisanship would not be allowed.
Gowdy is a former Federal prosecutor and (I hope) the next AG of the US after a Pub wins POTUS.
I’m with you, Trey needs to be the next AG, and I suspect he would hold people accountable regardless of politics. How refreshing it would be to have an honest AG. I’ve seen him in action on some of the true crime shows shot when he was a prosecutor, though I’m not sure he was federal, and he was incredible, one of the best I’ve seen.
