Of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention who stayed to the end, 3 refused to sign the document. One of them was Elbridge Gerry, later the fifth Vice President of the US. We should honor men like Gerry and the so-called Anti-Federalists because their skepticism about whether the Constitution would adequately protect our liberties led to the adoption of the Bill of Rights.
