SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah – A woman has criticized police in the Utah County city of Saratoga Springs over the fatal shooting of her 22-year-old son, saying she believes the outcome would have been different had he not been black.
Susan Hunt of Saratoga Springs said her family wants answers about what happened leading up to Wednesday's shooting by officers of her son, Darrien Hunt.

Haven’t heard this on the news yet. Maybe the circumstances of the shooting left no question as to why he was shot, thus cutting the riot brigade off at the pass.

Some reports say the young man was waving a dagger or short sword in the officer’s direction. That is never a good idea regardless of color. Poor mother is miserable now, and may never see the bigger picture. Some folks will immediately go on defense using offensive methods when confronted by a policeman. Some have a kneejerk, rebellious default response to anybody in uniform.
Before the statement was issued, Susan Hunt told the Deseret News: "They killed my son because he's black. No white boy with a little sword would they shoot while he's running away. "Those stupid cops thought they had to murder over a toy. This is my baby. This is my family. And they ruined my family."
And he previously assaulted his mother and other teens who tried to intervene, but of course now the mom says “he was a good boy.” (As the dollar signs flash.)
Michael Brown’s family have made 100K off their boy so far, according to a thread here the other day.
This Utah woman wants her payday too. This all goes to a bigger question: What do you get when you reward bad behavior?
I thought Utah was an Open Carry state.
Hopefully they would be met and turned away by the former mayor of Saratoga Springs mayor Mia Love.
Oh really? He assaulted his mother? Then, I have to say, that he got what he deserved. I still miss my mother who died years ago in 1991. An honorable man does not mistreat those who love you the most. A lot of lightskinned, bi-racial black people live their lives in a quandary, not feeling that they belong in either world, and then blaming the caregiving parent for their confusion. Too many of these parents accept the phony ‘blame’ for their child’s confusion and frustration, vs telling them to be grateful for what they have, then move on. Stop spinning your wheels at this unending Pity Party.
Did the decedent have a history of mental illness?
Previous altercations?
Previous conflict with law enforcement?
I don’t think it’s a black thing. I think, if anything, it’s a cop thing and it’s definitely not all cops. It’s just a small percentge of them.
She probably said he was a “goot” boy, which is technically different than a good boy.
It will be too difficult for them to keep track of who they are pi$$ed at.
You'd have demonstrators working from notes and cue cards...Rev Al can't even work with a teleprompter...Rev Jesse would turn it into a mispronunciation nightmare.
Depending on what really happened, it could be another COP thing, or the kid was crazy enough to threaten one. An investigation needs to be made to determine the case, but NOT by the local cops. Only a small minority of cops behave badly, but the others close ranks and defend them.
Hopefully Holder, Sharpeton and Jackson will stay away so the truth can out.
