Help me out -- how is a disease brought under control?
I see two ways:
1) A vaccine or cure or something is developed and distributed to a population and the spread of the disease is stopped.
Problem: Can we really predict when the Ebola problem will be "solved" in the lab?
2) The disease runs its course and burns through a population until there are no more victims without immunity.
Problem: Ebola is fatal in about 60% of the cases, and Africa is a big continent, and spreadign worldwide seems inevitable.
12 to 18 months? That's a wild ass guess, right?
