Climate change deniers tend to scoff at talk of climate disaster, but each week it seems there are new studies revealing just how devastating the rising temperatures can be — often in unexpected ways. Recently, the National Audubon Society found that more than half of all species of North American birds would be threatened by warming temperatures.

Many would likely perish, the report's authors note, unless they are able to adapt.

For heaven’s sake, these folks are stark raving mad.

Unfortunately, there are weak minded people out there who gobble this all up as if it were a solid irrefutable scientific certainty.

You remind them that about four years ago nearly all the scientific evidence was revealed to have been fraudulent, and their eyes roll back in their heads, arms rise, and they come toward you chanting.

Never-mind the calamitous predictions of Al Gore never came true. Never-mind water levels are not rising. Never-mind that winters are becoming more pronounced. Never-mind temperatures have been going down.

Lurch, lurch, lurch...

And so it goes, in what used to be the land of the free...
