Not clear on what you meant. Do you support confining fedgov to constitutional limits and letting the states decide intrastate drug policies, per the Tenth Amendment?

And when your kids are addicted to heroin, be sure to get them PRIVATELY funded treatment.

I thought the government funded methadone clinics which sprouted up during the 1970's were supposed to end the opiate drug epidemic..............?

A comedian once said “Heroin must be awesome! I mean I smoke pot, but I never woke up in the morning and said, wow that was so good, I don’t need a job anymore! Screw that whole paying rent and living in a house.. Who needs a drivers license? That stuff must be great!”

All good laws are formed to protect the family from the government and 'neighborly' busybodies because the family is the one who forms good citizens and the individuals that make up the family are more interested in making their family strong than bureaucrats and busybodies, who are interested in making slaves.

There. Fixed it.

With Great Freedom Comes Great Responsibility.

Whoa their hoss. With great individual freedom comes great individual responsibility. Your statement makes it sound like you think, "With great collective freedom comes great collective responsibility." I don't think that's what you want to say.

Our error is the welfare state. We took away individual responsibility and with it, inevitably, our freedoms are taken as well. "Protecting" individuals from themselves has always been a mistake. Whether it's the use of a hammer to make things illegal or the use of a carrot by giving away freebies to make people dependent. Both approaches are interdependent. You can't have one without the other. With one, the other inevitably follows.

Dependency on chemicals is a horrible thing that is difficult for the individual to overcome. It kills individuals and the family. Dependency on the government kills the incentive to choose the right path on one's own and destroys society.

You hate libertarians. Fine. At least work with them to dismantle the welfare state. Once that is done, let's see how much of a drug war there is left to fight. I very seriously doubt it will be much of an issue.

"We have to control drugs, which are out of control," Mr. Cardoso said in a telephone interview. "Some lethal drugs have to be prohibited…"

I'd say heroin and cocaine would be two of them. So, why is your little "commission" meeting?

"the U.S.-led war on drugs is faltering"

The US has never really initiated a "war" on drugs.

I haven't heard of drug war lord mansions being carpet bombed, or foreign heads of state involved in the drug trade being assassinated. If that was happening, it would be a sign of a real "war".

“The commies (these commission “leaders”) know that people are easier to control and enslave when they are wacked out on drugs. People who are high all of the time don’t care much about things like freedom and liberty.”

Bwahahahaha!!!

Have *you* ever had a child who was into drugs? *Controllable??* Not on your life!

You know what they *didn’t* have access to?

Alcohol.

They could get *anything* at school, but couldn’t get a hold of booze. (Unless they could sneak a little bit from their parents) Why? Because it’s regulated and adults wouldn’t give them access. Mister Liquor Store Owner doesn’t want to lose his license.

But Mister Drug Dealer doesn’t care if he’s selling to an eleven year old.
