The important thing is that it’s not the moral equivalent of forcing a Christian to swear to Allah or anything like that. An Atheist gets to make up his own morals, so he can swear to anyone or anything he wants if it gets him what he seeks. There is no moral problem whatsoever.

Wow... He doesn't want to take an oath to God. No problem. His choice. He also doesn't have to serve in the Military. If he were to be captured by Muslims they would make him swear to their god and still lop off his brainless head.
If he cannot take an oath to his creator then he has no business serving in any branch of a military that has traditionally been the finest military in the world and one that has sworn to God since before our nation's inception.

I would be surprised if FDR was the first President to add “...so help me God.” But since it isn’t in the oaths contained in the text of the Constitution, I’m surprised it has been inserted into other oaths.

On the other hand, how many people would be willing to bet that the Constitution guarantees everyone “a jury of his peers”?
