House GOP Setting the Stage for Massive Crony Capitalist Pay Backs in a Lame Duck
redstate.com ^ | 9/9/14 | Erick Erickson

House Republicans are preparing a continuing resolution to keep the government open. In doing so, they’ve decided to be total sluts for K Street and Wall Street. The Crony Capitalists, emboldened by the Chamber of Commerce’s help during primary season, are doing some very unusual things.

Here’s what I hear is happening.

First, they will reauthorize the Ex-Im bank, which is something K Street is desperate to see happen.

Second, current reports are that they will spend more than the original Paul Ryan — Patti Murray deal that had included a tax hike. However, that is subject to change.

Third, and probably most significantly, they will make sure the continuing resolution expires after the election, but before January. That will free them up to go back for a lame duck session where outgoing members can use their votes to pass amnesty, tax increases, and further extend the Ex-Im bank.

Essentially, just as the Democrats used retiring members of Congress to pass Obamacare since they no longer had to worry about being accountable to voters, Republicans are going to use their members on the other side of an election and no longer accountable to voters to increase federal spending, collaborate on amnesty, and prepare a grab bag of pork fill requests for K Street.

Get ready. It’s coming.

Even if Boner abandons the Hastert Rule, are there still enough votes in the House to pass the Senate amnesty bill?

It won’t take all that many Republicans to cross to pass, but I’m not sure there are even enough of those. Plus it guarantees an incoming House GOP Caucus that would be furious with Boner, probably toss out all the GOP leadership down to the Whip.

Just wonderful. Like we wouldn't notice, being all distracted by the fortunes of Ray Rice, or Kim Kardashian, perhaps?

That's right. When fortune's blowing their way, it's too good to be true. Go ahead and spend whatever political capital you presently merely think you have to do the Democrat's the tremendous favor of discouraging your own political base from even bothering to go to the polls for you.

A Total Disconnect, so incredibly risky as to be just plain stupid, robbing defeat from the jaws of victory.

And they’re tacking left for more, er... flexibility after the election.

Always good thinking, of course.

But we've all known for some time that this is exactly what the Republicans were going to do. Doesn't take a degree in political science to come to this conclusion.

Someone again remind me why I should stand in line to vote for McConnell? What a choice. A lying commie or a lying traitor sell out.

Never vote for a RINO.

It is better to have an enemy in front of you, than a traitor behind you.

We are getting amnesty with or without congress. No matter how many “Republicans” are in the House and Senate come January, there will be no opposition to executive amnesty. Unless one considers whining to be opposition.

This is NO law in this country now regarding our borders or illegals.

Keep a close eye on the border of TX. That violence is getting ready to happen in most of our cities. Can you defend yourself and your neighborhood against illegals *and* the federal government?

Yep. The only way to guarantee that this keeps happening is to keep putting republicans in.

I've never missed an election. Like jury duty, voting is essential to a free republic. It used to be that way in these United States.

In republics that are well into transition, of creeping into despotism, voting serves to condone coming, open tyranny.

Neither Senators Rubio nor Nelson are up this year in FL. The top of the ballot will feature my rep, Steve Southerland (R-FL2). For the first time in my life, I am seriously considering withholding my vote.
