CHICAGO (AP) — The U.S. Marshals Service has announced it has replaced the head of its Chicago office for the past four years in a re-organization, appointing an interim chief for its high-profile northern Illinois district.
Darryl McPherson, who was named to the top Chicago post by President Barack Obama in 2010, was recently reassigned to the same office's judicial security division, said Drew Wade, an agency spokesman in Washington.
Wade, however, declined to discuss why the 17-year Marshals Service veteran was moved to a lower-level job, citing privacy rules. A telephone message seeking comment from McPherson on Monday afternoon wasn't immediately returned.

There are allegations of new problems inside America’s oldest law enforcement agency, the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
The ABC7 I-Team has learned the Marshal’s office in Chicago is under federal investigation for financial issues.
Federal law enforcement sources within the Marshal’s office in Chicago tell the I-Team that office finances were such a mess, that Washington sent in a fixer to handle things for five months.
There were no press releases about this, but in a statement to the I-Team Thursday night, the Department of Justice says it is aware of allegations involving the office; the matter is “under review.”
ABC7 was told by sources that there are two investigations of the Chicago office underway looking at how taxpayer money was managed: one by the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General and the other by Marshal Service Internal Affairs.
As Chicago deputy marshals worked the streets tracking down wanted fugitives, here at their headquarters in the Loop, administrative operations were unraveling, according to federal sources.
Last fall, an audit of the office and its nearly $30 million Chicago budget turned up serious problems according to sources in the Marshal’s office:

No comment by either his union or the Congressional Black Caucus. On that basis alone, this screams “Illegal”, taking it out of the “privacy” realm.
There have always been problems within the US Marshal Service. Patronage. Nepotism. Politics. Hacks. Improper/inadequate overseeing. List goes on and on for most DOJ Agencies and Ops.
I retired from the USMS 9 years ago. Whenever I talk to friends that are still working they can just about tell you to the year/month/week/day/hour/second when they’re eligible for retirement.....
Did they reassign his body too or just the head?
