I saw the author last weekend on CSPAN 2. CSPAN 2 becomes BookTV on the weekend and specialize in non-fiction politics and history. Schedule at:

He describes how Iran was behind the consulate attack having paid off the brigade we had hired to protect the consulate. He says that Iranian Revolutionary Guard actually went into the buildings and did the dirty work.
Lays the initiation of the video demonstration cover-up on Clinton and then Obama for running with the story.
Obama AWOL during the incident.
Author lists all of the attacks on US assets and embassies laid at the feet of the Iranians since 1978. Says Iran has constantly been at war with the US. And what do we do about them developing the nukes? Nada.
Iranians led this attack because they didn't want stinger missiles getting to rebels in Syria. They back Assad.
Timmerman was a defense and middle east correspondent and has run unsuccessfully as a conservative republican for congress in Maryland.

I know there will be some differences between his book and some of the posts here. A lot of folks here say that Obama wanted the ambassador kidnapped so that he could be exchanged for the blind sheik. This has some logic since Obama has a pattern now of these exchanges. However, the author makes a strong case for the motivation being that the Iranians didn't want stingers delivered to rebels in Syria.
I Have not posted many threads and would appreciate others who have read the book or who watch the broadcast to put their observations and opinions in.
Also open to suggestions on thread posting and maintenance.
I'll be back and forth this morning (pacific time) and try to be here constantly to highlight the points made in the broadcast.
Author and activist[edit]
From the Wikipedia write up on the author
In 1991, Timmerman published The Death Lobby: How the West Armed Iraq after the Gulf War. Timmerman advised the United Nations Special Commission for the Disarmament of Iraq on the location of weapons plants.
In 1993, Timmerman returned to the US where he worked as a member of the staff of the U.S. House Committee on International Relations. In 1995, he founded the Foundation for Democracy in Iran with Peter Rodman, Joshua Muravchick and Iranian opposition expatriates to attempt to topple the Iranian government. He founded the Middle East Data Project to advise governments and private companies. In 1998, he made suggestions to the Rumsfeld Commission supporting the deployment of a national missile defence system.
In 1998, he wrote a piece on Osama Bin Laden and his training camps in Afghanistan just before Al-Qaeda attacked two US embassies in Africa. He also wrote features for the American Spectator criticizing the export of high-technology equipment to China, which was published as a book in 2000. In 2000 Timmerman sought the nomination of the Maryland GOP to run against Democratic incumbent Paul Sarbanes. Timmerman won less than ten percent in the party primary; Paul Rappaport won the Republican nomination but lost to Sarbanes, who won with 63% of the vote.
Timmerman wrote Shakedown: Exposing the Real Jesse Jackson as a change of pace from his focus on international issues in 2002. The argument claimed that Jackson alleging connections with criminals and claiming that Rev. Jackson practised extortion of businesses. It proved to be highly successful making the top ten bestseller list with 200,000 copies printed.[5] It also reached the top of the Amazon bestseller list.[6]
In 2003, Timmerman published Preachers of Hate: Islam and the War Against America. The French Betrayal of America was published in 2004. Timmerman returned to his field of greatest expertise with the publication of Countdown to Crisis: the Coming Nuclear Showdown with Iran in 2005.
On February 7, 2006 Sweden’s former deputy prime minister and Liberal party leader Per Ahlmark asserted that he had nominated Timmerman for a Nobel Peace Prize along with UN Ambassador John Bolton for “their repeated warnings and documentation of Iran’s secret nuclear buildup and revealing Iran’s repeated lying and false reports to the International Atomic Energy Agency.”[7] The Nobel Foundation won’t confirm nominations, however, until 50 years have passed.[8]

Benghazi ping.
Let Republicanprofessor know if you want on or off this ping list.
I am also wondering now if Obama and Kerry are reinforcing our Middle Eastern embassies in preparation for 9/11/14, especially with all the ISIS developments. Has there been any news about this?

WSJ editorial compares handling of Iran-Contra with Benghazi

Other than the obvious pushback to comparing Benghazi with Iran Contra - no, they are not similar.
Iran Contra was investigated by the congress, all parties were brought to testify, and all parties cooperated with the investigation.
Wasn’t saying that. Just posting a bunch of articles related to the post.
Didn’t article contrast the Reagan Admin cooperation with the Obama cover-up?
I wasn’t directing it at you.
I did open up the article and the title pointed to the differences.
The WSJ and readers like to think Obama is going to turn out to not be so bad
That’s how I take the article and its title
Yes, amongst the rest of the MSM.
After a year the Hero of Benghazi doesn’t have a strategy for ISIS and yet some are praising him for being thoughtful.

Denial of requests for security were a dereliction of duty. The lies and misdirection about the "video" after the attack were fraud and malfeasance under the color of authority. The inaction during the attack was something more than that.
The failure to act during the attack is the direct equivalent of desertion IMO.
ONE man had the authority to act that night.
ONE man deserted his post!
EXCLUSIVE: CIA operators were denied request for help during Benghazi attack, sources say
0bama abandoned his post. 0bama did nothing.
0bama Is A Deserter!
thanx
Since he was awol during the attack I agree. Was the motivation wanting to release the bind sheik or not caring if the missiles were stolen? I am not sure.
today I will try to explain this author’s point of view as he describes his book.
