“the silly rule is designed to suck all of the fun out of school”
School? Fun? When I was a kid, I hated school with a passion. Recess and lunch didnt make it any more palatable. It certainly didnt put “fun” into school. The less time I had to spend inside the school building, the better.
When cartwheels are outlawed only outlaws will have cartwheels.
Heaven forbid that the children are expected to behave and do what they are told, or that a school try and establish order. Aren't we always complaining that students are out of control? At our private Christian school that employs the classical model for education, the children aren't allowed to have unsupervised play either. The children are entrusted to their care, and IMHO, the school is well within their right to ensure safety, if for no other reason than to keep insurance costs down. If the kids want to engage in risky play, let them do it on their parents dime, they are supposed to be there to learn.
