A major part of the problem is that it’s unnecessary to look for work when you can get EBT, SNAP, WIC, Unemployment and Obama phones...........................and Lord knows what else................

Exactly correct. They where of working age, but voluntarily out of the labor force. Raising children and keeping house. Allot of people remain voluntarily out of the labor force for the same reason.

It is the 20% of the population that is involuntarily out of the labor force that are truly unemployed. When we add those to the number of people who are COUNTED as unemployed we reach 26% of the population that is truly unemployed. They want full time work, but are either completely out of work or working part time. Usually very part time.

Actual increase, unadjusted for season, was only 14,000. That is less than 250 people PER STATE! It is statistically insignificant.

That is not completely true. The fact is that a large percentage of people who became unemployed do not qualify for EBT, Housing Vouchers, WIC. Unemployment pays a percentage of income capped at around $400 per week depending on the state and locale. Many on Unemployment receive less than $250 per week.

Many of those unemployed where married to spouses who remained employed. So they went from households with two incomes to households with one income. Often the smaller income.

Most often the man was unemployed and the wife continued to work making just enough to deny benefits to the formerly middle class household. Many have found new jobs, often part time, most certainly at lower wages.

The people you are referring to have NEVER been in the labor force as they are almost certainly unemployable. They have been generational welfare recipients and have no work history.

Many of those who are new to EBT will remain on it as millions have been added to disability rolls. The disabled are not counted as unemployed as they are permanently removed from the work force.

Sorry 16,000. Around 320 per state.

Still statistically ananomoly, a rounding error at best.

In other words NO NEW JOBS LAST MONTH AT ALL!

That’s usually how it goes. Republicans generally improve the condition of the country and thus, to some extent, the world.

Then the big-spending, big-regulating fascist Dimocrats get elected and set about screwing it all up in the name of “fairness” (but really it’s for vote-buying.)

The Obama administration has made it so easy to get benefits now that anyone who applies for them is practically guaranteed to get them. This removes the incentive for work and also removes the person from the ‘unemployed’ roster...................a double whammy on the numbers...............

Yet they claim that the unemployment rate fell by 0.01 percent. BS

In the age of sanctioned government/corporate manipulation of all financial/employment data, we are told that the unemployment rate has dropped to 6%. They never mention that they are not counting the 92 million people who have quit looking for a job and do not work. They never mention the 50 million people that are collecting food stamps. They also never mention that the population of America in 1978 was 100 million less than today which makes us being equivalent to 1978 far worse.

And of those employed,...

Leviathan (Uncle Sam employs more people than you think)
National Review ^ | 02/03/2011 | Iain Murray
"...nearly 40 million Americans employed in some way by government."

That would account for a large portion of adults of employment age.
