Looks like Orman is too liberal to be a Republican and too moderate to be a Democrat. I'm not saying that he's going to beat Roberts. But Roberts was polling at 40% or less in a three person race. Now it's down to two. And I guarantee that Roberts isn't going to pick up many of Taylor's supporters.

Once Kansans learn that Orman is basically a Dem, he will be soundly defeated.

Time will tell. Roberts is none too popular for all the reasons that Wolf brought out in the primary. Plus there is still a significant base of more moderate Republicans in the east that could go for Orman. Don't forget, Dennis Moore didn't win 5 terms in Congress on Democrats alone. The idea of those voters going for Orman over Roberts is not that far-fetched.

Eric Erickson pointed out on Rush’s show today that the Republicans will probably win the race but they will have to divert resources that could be used elsewhere to do so.

GOP leadership needs to wake up and understand their base doesn’t care for elitism.

I have a million complaints about the GOP but the Dems will do anything to win and retain political power, state and nation be damned. I don’t know anything about Orman but am I the only one thinking this guy was bankrolled behind the scenes by the DNC and thrown in the race to suck votes from Roberts. Why were the Dems so quick to rally behind Orman and not seem too upset their own candidate dropped out? Kinda fishy to me.

All Roberts needs to do is remind voters of Orman’s support and campaign contributions to BHO mentioned in the above article.

Orman is a proxy for the Dems in this race and proxy for BHO. It could not be more clear than that.

Orman is not too moderate to be a Democrat, he just says that he is. He is a liberal Democrat who is running as an independent because he could never win as a Democrat. Their plan was to have the Democrat candidate Chad Taylor drop out and scoop up all the liberal Republicans, the Independents, and the Democrat votes. That’s about the only way that a Democrat can win statewide in Kansas these days.

That plan has come off the tracks and bumped up against state law. It turns out that after the primary, Taylor can only withdraw if he’s dead or if he declares that he is incapable of performing the duties of the office. As of today, he’s done neither, although he had better not wander into any dark alleys. With a Democrat on the ballot, the math doesn’t work. Now that this phony resignation scam has been exposed, Orman will probably fade.

Flop Sweat. Many articles being written about Kansas and how there is one incumbent Republican Senator who could be upset.

If this is the Democrats 'best hope', it surely shows how awful and desperate they are. Their best strategy is for the Dummie to drop out in favor of a poorly disguised liberal running as an Independent?!

And to add salt to their wound, it now looks like 'Hanging Chad' can't drop out?!! LOL!

And the race still has to be classified as a likely Republican win. But it isn't going to be as easy as Roberts had hoped. And you're right, the Republicans will have to devote more resources to Roberts...and the Democrats will have to throw more money in for Orman. It could cost both parties in other races in other states.

No, Orman got in on his own. But word around town that once it became clear that Orman was attracting more money and stood a better chance of beating Roberts in a head-to-head matchup then Taylor was basically forced out of the race by his own party. And odds are that if Orman wins he'll caucus with the Dems. That's why they're rallying around him.

SO Politico found a ‘Republican’ they like?

And dresses it up as a random act of journalism, to promote someone so that a real Republican can lose.

If he was a TEA party candidate they would be spewing vitriol.

This is the fish-faced women from Alaska stunt that was pulled in Reverse. I am no fan of Roberts anymore, but the other side ( and our side ) will do anything to keep or gain power for the Uni-Party or it's left of Center Cousin and the Stupid Party doesn't see things like this coming right at them....

Which means he’ll lean Democrat. I’m always wary of people who run for office with the independent label whose views are not known or they steer to the middle. I’ll say this about the Dems. They know how to play the political game while our side is still reading the instructions. Make no mistake Orman is in contact with the DNC and they’re running his campaign behind the scenes.

From article:

“If one party is clearly in the majority, then I think it makes the most sense for the state of Kansas for me to caucus with the majority,” he said earlier Wednesday.

My honest opinion is that he's saying that so he can appear to be the real independent, uncorrupted by Washington. When the rubber hits the road he's more in tune with the Democrats than the Republicans, and if he wanted to caucus with GOP I don't think they could trust him to always vote they way they need him to when they need him to. Think Susan Collins, only even less reliable.

Define "clearly".

I don’t really care who is at fault here. The real issue is that the GOP everywhere has no fire in its belly and once again they are on track to screwing up another major election.

If they allow the Dim to withdraw, which so far is not the case, then they HAVE to pick someone to take his place.

Hard to have fire in your belly when the party bosses keep stomping it out.
