I get some prescriptions from CVS. Since CVS seems to be in bed with Team Obama. Darn. Now I may have to switch to Walgreens.

That Great Tobacco Settlement of some 15 years ago was supposed to end smoking for the next generations, too. It failed.

I live in a small apt complex of 20 units. About 1/2 are young singles and couples with at least one smoker.

If Michelle thinks CVS ceasing the sale of tobacco will create a tobacco-free future generation, the poor gal is delusional.

CVS is the biggest seller of alcohol in my town.

Fine...as long as CVS is doing this voluntarily and not under government orders. The market will decide whether or not they want to shop at CVS.

I have long thought that the market could decide whether or not there should be smoking in private businesses. If businesses were simply mandated to decide whether they would be all smoking or non smoking and prominently display their choice on their front door and that choice would also appear in all of their advertising and ads for employment, people would decide where to take their business. My bet is that most businesses would choose to be non smoking. There might be a few small establishments like small local bars that would remain smoking, but in time I think even they would make the switch.

There was a Truth ad on tv someplace this weekend (I haven't had a tv in 6 years and don't recall where I saw it, restaurant, etc.).

“WE can be the first generation that doesn't smoke!”

Meanwhile young people are being driven to the polls to vote Democrat on the “legalize pot” initiatives.

Let the legislatures legalize (or decriminalize) pot if they want, but please end this double standard of demonizing tobacco as the most evil weed while high fiving the mass marketing of pot.

Free markets will decide. I like that I can go to my local restaurant/bar and not have to breath smoke on cheap wing night. I like that my employer banned smoking on site so that my smoking coemployees don’t get a 15 minute break at least every hour when I have to work the full hour.

I recently got vaped at an outdoor restaurant. Nicotine addicts have no shame. They breath their toxins on anyone nearby.

I think Walgreens actually has some worse policies than CVS.

Still, it’s the right to choose - if CVS wants to do away with a major, legal revenue stream, it’s their choice. I just won’t be buying their stock.

Seems to me I read somewhere that Soros provided the start-up money and is invested in CVS. I no longer shop there, but for different reasons. Walgreen’s presents its own set of issues. Noticed a lot of things I used to buy there are no longer available or are sold under a similar or different name and bear the Walgreen label. Asked the local store manager about it. She said they were instructed to pull about 3500 products off their shelves and replace them. When she complained, said she was told that she and the customers would “learn to deal with it”.
