~”In Novoazovsk, terrorists robbed the local bank branch. Due to this, social payments are suspended in the city, there is a shortage of food, the remains are sold at inflated prices,” he said.~
In light of recent Ukrainian agitprop it might be the key.
Ok, I’ll buy a part that bank robbery might be a reason of suspended benefits in the city due to a lack of cash (which is still somehow doubtful as far as there are mostly plastic money too), but how may it affect a food supply? There are no small local banks in Ukraine, all are branches of larger national networks which would easily compensate any local losses.
And how do they know ‘terrorists’ did it?
It is nothing but another piece to blame the rebels for worsening economy.
I think it’s merely a poor translation: The shortage of food (common in conflict zones) is not (for the most part) directly tied to the bank robbery.
