The Alaska Democratic Party broke with long tradition Monday when its central committee voted 89-2 to not field a gubernatorial ticket and instead put its weight behind the independent campaign of Bill Walker and Byron Mallott.
The vote to support the fusion ticket was contingent on Walker dropping his Republican Party affiliation. Mallott will quit as the Democratic Partys nominee for governor, as will his running mate, state Sen. Hollis French. But Mallott will remain a Democrat, executive director Kay Brown said after the vote at party headquarters in a Spenard bungalow.

Never ever trust Alaskan Dems.
People in AK are easily fooled and could fall for this gambit. Ol’ Ted Stevens actually looks better with the passage of time, considering the nature of the AK voters.
one suspects, the Dems are going to try and pull this crap anywhere they can before Nov.
Love the name, the AFU Party. The Alaskan Fascist Unity ticket. The Communists are pushing hard to conquer the state again. Hopefully some Democrats will step up and demand the party field an actual ticket instead of this dubious farce.
Yup, totally disrespectful to the actual voters who voted in their primary.
This is also partly Lisa Murkowski’s fault, she showed them that you can push everyone’s votes to the side in a primary and only their own way forward counts.
My buddy’s son was married to Byron Mallott’s daughter for several years and he is a typical democrat, bureaucratic, administrative hack. He runs neither hot nor cold, whichever way the wind blows. Dull as dishwater.
Never ever trust Alaskan Dems.
Or more generally
NEVER EVER TRUST DEMS.
“People in AK are easily fooled “
Excuse me? Upon what do you base this assertion?
This stinks worse than a week-old dead Salmon baking in the sun on a riverbank.
Oh, I think I just insulted dead salmons. I’m sorry if I offended any of them.
Maybe I should have said that Democrats stink worst than the dead skunk in saw in the middle of the road yesterday.
Bizarre move of questionable legality (the part about replacing Walker’s running mate with Mallot, Mallot and his running mate are free to drop out). Shades of the 1872 POTUS election, where the rats endorsed the Liberal Republican third party candidacy of Horace Greeley. Grant beat him in a landslide.
Reportedly the AFL-CIO masterminded this. The rat gubernatorial nominee, Mallot, was reluctant but polls showed the ex-RINO Walker would be competitive 1-on-1 with Parnell and he (Mallot) would not be. A Walker interal poll showed him up 43%-40%. Parnell should win anyway.
One article calls the desultory rat and the ex-RINO a “political odd couple”, more like birds of a feather. This RAT/RINO fusion is not new for the state, a Rat/RINO coalition ruled the state Senate until GOP gains and the primary defeats of several traitors in 2012.
In other Alaska news, rat Senator Begich is under fire for running a controversial ad.

This will be the first time a party hasn’t “officially” fielded a nominee in a gubernatorial election in any state since...when? I’m sure some years saw no Republican candidate run in several Southern states. But no rat nominee?
Yeah Parnell’s lawyer need to look up every law in the book on this crap.
I hope he people of Alaska are insulted by this duplicitous stunt.
