Threatened to pull funding and they folded like a three-dollar card table.

Votes to rescind decision to opt-out of Common Core.

That itself reads as a Common Core concept.

And so it will be elsewhere. Teacher unions and socialized education administrators are already primed for this kind of crap and will not willingly let it go. Federal and state funding gives them the leverage to make CC happen regardless of what parent want or think. Wait and see.

From an article at the Miami Herald, when the Lee County school board DECIDED to opt out:

“At the Wednesday meeting, board members Tom Scott and Mary Fischer voted with Armstrong, a decision that was met with cheers and applause from red-clad supporters who packed the house for the meeting. Fischer was initially leery of the idea, but served as the tie-breaker Wednesday.”

I cannot tell, but it sounds as though Fischer’s mind was changed for today’s vote.

I was right. Fischer folded:

“The motion was originally passed by board members Mary Fischer, Chairman Tom Scott and Don Armstrong, but Fischer called for a rescission meeting after further thought.”

“I was right. Fischer folded.”

Yes, there were some at the original vote who were urging the board to hold off on the vote so they could consider the consequences and have a plan, but the board pushed forward. Fischer was doubting her vote to the press as early as the next morning when she realized what it could potentially mean for funding, student graduation, etc.

The other 2 board members who voted to opt out said this morning that they’ll bring it before the board again soon.

Insanity

They want CC so that they can say “we aren’t responsible, the national standards are” when the results come
