You may be right. If a leader were to suggest that to win we would have to have a draft for WWII overwhelming force to conquer, disarm and occupy or raise taxes to pay for our efforts - the country would go apoplectic yelling Right Wing or Left Wing.
Part of the problem is that we’ve been fighting - unsuccessfully it seems - wars since the first George Bush and so the American public is war weary. Perhaps if we had annihilated them (kind of hard to do because they breed like rabbits) years ago we wouldn’t be in this fix.
You’re right though - no one here would support a draft and once again Europe would shirk its duties. And that’s why I have nightmares about Isis.
