As for Western values, the western Europeans supporting Ukraine have their cronies and the Russian have their crony interests. None is more pure than the other. You obviously would like nothing better than to believe that Russia is communist instead of crony capitalist. But if they are really communist, then we are not far behind on that slope.

Of course the US is under attack, but we're not going to stop those attacks by defending Ukraine. The reason we get attacked is our size and strength to tip the balance in the various European wars. Both European and Russian elites agree on that. Now they have largely succeeded in neutering American capitalism and the military, so we are out of the picture. We can barely help ourselves against the Islamists and the Chinese.
