After this weeks dreary news out of Kansas, we owe Hot Air readers a pleasant surprise, and this may be it. Martha Coakley, who lost a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by the death of Ted Kennedy four years ago despite the near-total grip Democrats have on Massachusetts, may be in the process of losing another election. Republican gubernatorial nominee Charlie Baker took his first lead in the Boston Globe poll series, edging Coakley barely, while neither candidate looks to be catching fire:
Republican Charlie Baker has edged ahead of Democrat Martha Coakley in the race for governor, taking the lead by the slimmest of margins for the first time in the Globes weekly poll.
The survey found the hypothetical general election race in a statistical dead heat, with 38 percent of respondents saying they would support Baker for governor, a slight edge over the 37 percent who said they favor Coakley. Though Bakers lead remains well within the margin of error, it shows movement in a race between the two likeliest candidates for the November election.

I'd laugh so hard if she lost this one again. Didn't they learn from her abysmal campaigning last time.
You’d have to be a complete and utter moron to lose two statewide elections in Dem controlled Mass......if she does, we’ll be able to look her up in the dictionary under epic failure.
its the Scott Brown thing all over again, the more they get to see of her, the more they hate her.
As usual in the communist state of Massachusetts, there is no choice. It is Left looney vs. Left looney. Thank you, Lord, for enabling my escape, after 20 adult years, from that cesspool.
Think Christine O. Gregoire and Al Franken.....
It happens over and over and republicans never seem to learn.
Speaking of MA, Ted Kennedy has been sober for 5 years now. That’s quite an accomplishment.
MA TAXPAYERS WERE FORCED TO FINANCE IMMIGRANTS' DIRTY DEEDS BIGTIME After the Boston bombing, Massachusetts Democrat Gov Deval Patrick refused to divulge info WRT massive public assistance to the bombers. But state welfare officials were forced to come clean b/c the info is available to lawmakers. State Rep David Linsky called on the Mass Dept of Transitional Assistance to provide the info..... issuing an ultimatum, giving them 24 hours to provide the info.
The Boston Herald published the state's response: 'My office is working to fully comply with your request,' DTA interim commissioner Stacey Monahan wrote, saying they were only providing a summary 'given the great interest in this matter.'
Chechen immigrants--the bombers' parents----were eligible as legal, non-citizen residents who claimed "asylum" status and met the eligibility criteria for DTA, DTA interim commissioner Stacey Monahan said in a letter to David Linsky, Chairman of the Mass House Post Audit and Oversight Committee.
Multiple state agencies, on orders from Democrat Gov Patrick, refused to comment on the bomber brothers' welfare haul.
<><> WRT Tamerlan receiving UI benefits, Labor dept spokesman Kevin Franck refused to comment....
<><> Univ of Mass-- Dartmouth spokesman Robert Connolly refused to comment on the financial aid app of 19 -year-old soph Dzhokhar. 'It is our position - and I believe the accepted position in higher education - that student records including academic records and financial records (including financial aid) cannot under federal law be released without a students consent.'
<><> The FCC would not discuss whether the suspected bombers had govt-paid Obamaphones.
<><> Cambridge housing officials would not comment on if the brothers had Section 8 rental subsidy offered by the HUD to low income households.

Benefits for entire family of bombing suspects likely exceeded $100k

BOSTON State lawmakers have launched an investigation into whether the suspects in the Boston bombings improperly received public benefits. The House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight is reviewing hundreds of documents collected from state agencies that may have provided benefits to the suspects or their families since 2002.
Sources who have seen the 500 pages of documents sent to the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight told News Center 5 that the entire Tsarnaev family, including:
(1) the two bombing suspects' parents,
(2) the two suspects themselves,
(3) their sisters (one is under arrest for making bomb threats),
(4) the widow of the suspect killed, and,
(5) their child.
Could also include benefits for the Chechen "students" who tampered w/ evidence (one is now in jail, the other going to trial).
The Chechen cabal received "every conceivable public benefit available out there." (Excerpt) Read more at wcvb.com ...

Anybody know how to say versimilitude in German?
Double down on WarOnWimmin coming soon to a campaign near you.
Not as much of a moron as losing two statewide elections in Kansas... The article about Kansas is of much more interest than this false hope.
So, why didnt Mitt Romney run for a second term as governor of Massachusetts?
He would have lost. And, not just lost by a little. He would have been creamed.
Romney won his first term with about 49% of the vote. After 4 years in office he had a 30% approval rating30%.
You cant blame this on Romney being a Republican. Massachusetts, when it comes to electing governors, is friendly to Republicans. For 16 straight years Massachusetts elected nothing but Republican governors (Weld, Cellucci, Swift, and Romney).
Yet, it only took one Romney term to destroy this Republican popularity streak.
Wahrheits. You're welcome.
That picture is just plain creepy.
Even creepier is knowing how many in MA see nothing untoward about it.
Scratch a prog/lib-—get a fascist.
I hope this is not the case, although we do have an uber liberal local media here in Kansas that helped push Sebelius over the line in the past. One positive note that Brownback and some conservatism working is the fact that government workers and takers here in Kansas absolutely hate him. That is who the local media's are focusing on and I see this as a positive as we have a bloated government that still needs a lot of correcting.
I like Brownback's ads attacking Davis for being an uber liberal and all the support Davis had for Obama over the years. Kansas can't afford to elect another liberal like Sebelius or Obama, with electing Davis.
I don't trust Greg Orman, the so-called independent in the Senate race. He comes in during the primaries, spending lots of money with popular conservative talking points. We've seen this act before to pull votes from the Republican in order to give the Demoncrat a chance. I hope most Kansans see through all the BS and especially, the local media's BS. The local media's are partly responsible for bringing us the corrupt Sebelius.
CGato
Oh, and if anyone wants to understand how uber liberal the local media is in Kansas, when George Tiller was killed, they treated him as if he was a martyr, and NOT the killer of thousands of unborn babies.

Ted? sober? Ted was permanently pickled. He will out-stiff the last Egyptian mummy. And I heard they strapped a quart of gin inside his neck brace? For the road.
Geez-—even Herman didn’t have the brass to wear a gold whistle. Wonder if it’s a dike call heard only by Nowies? The gal does indeed look like a good candidate for the draft in my all-chick burgerbutt team called the “Bacon Busters”. I hold sign-ups sometimes down at the local Costco snack bar. Talent rich environment.
Oh my God, what a getup!
LOL!
It’s not clear whether the Uber Commandant chick is wearing trousers, Skirt, or tent? And what goes good with handcuffs?
