For me, personally, Arabs are something I cant look at and cant stand, a 10th-grade girl from a high school in the central part of the country says in abominable Hebrew. I am tremendously racist. I come from a racist home. If I get the chance in the army to shoot one of them, I wont think twice. Im ready to kill someone with my hands, and its an Arab. In my education I learned that their education is to be terrorists, and there is no belief in them. I live in an area of Arabs, and every day I see these Ishmaelites, who pass by the [bus] station and whistle. I wish them death.
The students comments appear in a chapter devoted to ethnicity and racism among youth from a forthcoming book, Scenes from School Life (in Hebrew) by Idan Yaron and Yoram Harpaz. The book is based on anthropological observations made by Dr. Yaron, a sociologist, over the course of three years in a six-year, secular high school in the Israeli heartlandthe most average school we could find, says Harpaz, a professor of education.

Considering they are the same race as Arabs, I think someone needs to check a dictionary.
Me either, so I count myself in good company.
Why does this BS even find its way into print?
Any Israeli who claims not to hate Arabs is either a liar or insane.
By whose definition? Descent from Shem?
Israelis are not a race, nor are arabs. Both are white, like it or not.
What does “white” mean?
They’re both descended from Shem on the father’s side, but the Arabs on the mother’s side have Hamite blood through Mizraim (Egypt).
Racism implies a prejudice that is not based on fact.
By any definition, Jews and Arabs are the same race. They are both semitic, share a common language that diverged only 3 or 4 thousand years ago, and if you go back only a few thousand years, they share the same DNA.
One is fully Semitic while the other is a hybrid of Semite and Hamite. Not quite the same race.
It would help to clarify “any definition”, especially if one is really that sure of it. Hagar was an Egyptian, and hence a Hamite. Ishmael also took Egyptian wives.
Never mind the word “prejudice” being the noun form of “pre-judge”.
Non-asian and non Sub-sahara african. Like descendants of Ham, Shem, and Japeth. Now there is a theory that there was not much light in that cave the family settled in...and hybrids might have occurred rather early.....but who knows, I wasn’t there, were you?
I trust God’s word over the guesses of men.
El Awrence, can you pass for an Arab in an arab town?
Yes, if one of you will lend me some dirty clothes.
Ask a child during WWII if they didn’t like Jerrys or Japs.
Would they be racist?
NO. We were at war and we name/vilify that which we seek to destroy.
Perfectly normal.
70 years after WWII?
Not cool. No American kid has a reason to fear/vilify the Japanese or Germans.
Mooslims, however ...
Meanwhile, Arab teens in the middle east are filled with love, good will, tolerance, and peace. NOT!!!!!!!!!! Political Correctness is out of control.
In actuality, they are both the same race, and they are both the same race as white Europeans, except perhaps for those Arabs who have some African blood in them, and those would be a mixture. Yemenis, for example. The idea of race is a fairly recent one, and it has always consisted of White, Asian, African or Negroid, Native American and Polynesian. There is no “semitic” race, and the ham and hagar stuff is if you take biblical genealogy literally. If you do, even then they are the same “race”, and a closely related tribe within that race.
What “actuality” are you referring to? Do you mean there is a problem with conflating the terms “race”, “tribe” and “nation” at some level?
The only way to really be pedantic about this (if one wishes) is to cite everyone’s common descent from Noah; beyond that we have his three sons Shem (Semites), Ham and Japheth. But between Jew and Arab, the only strict Semite descent is from the Jew (through Jacob’s son Judah).
Depends on who Ismael married. If he married a Semite, his kids would be 3/4 Semitic, if he married a Hamite, they’d be 3/4 Hamitic, and who knows what other peoples he might have come into contact with.
Genesis 21:21 does say that Hagar found him a wife from Egypt, who are Hamites.
Guess I can’t argue with that logic.
