Some Burger King customers are finding it hard to swallow that the home of the Whopper could move to Canada.
Investors seemed to welcome the announcement by Burger King late Sunday that it was in talks to buy Canadian coffee-and-doughnut chain Tim Hortons and create the worlds third-largest fast-food restaurant company. The news pushed shares of both companies up more than 20 percent.
But customers were already voicing their discontent with the 60-year-old hamburger chain because of its plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Miami to Canada in a deal that could lower its taxes.

Good! If I had a company and could do that, I would. This administration is out of control.
I bet Obama gets in the middle of this one.
Liberals complain about businesses moving only after they themselves have chased them out of town...
If the environment was feasible for the rule followers to prosper then go after the corrupt....
Instead we make it impossible for the law abdibing to abide by law and act surprised when the only business that survive are the ones who bend and stretch the rules...
US Corporate Taxes: 35%
Canadian Corporate Taxes: 15%.
Makes sense to me.
Why would anyone care where the corporations which produce the things they buy are based?
I wonder how many of those “customers...voicing their discontent” drive Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans, Mazdas, Acuras, Lexuses, BMWs, Mercedes, AUDIs, Volvos, Volkswagons...
...you get the idea.
Right.
Chase them away, and then excoriate them for leaving.
Canada had a higher tax than the U.S. a few years ago they got smart..
I would hope BK would do what is best for its shareholders and for keeping its prices down.BK has no obligation to remain headquartered where the government keeps poking it with knives.

Yup and you create an environment of the ones that are left that is full of corruption and uncrupulous tricks in order for them to stay afloat.....
Then you blame them for being corrupt.....
Just like they blame the ones you chased away for running....
The owner of Burger King is a big LIBERAL.
They are trying to survive and be profitable. No crime anywhere here.
Maybe the real reason they are angry is because they can only get bribes from the corrupt ones that stay.
Once a corporation leaves the country, crooked politicians (redundant, I know) lose the income from the bribes they used to solicit.
I used to love to go to Canada and live large because the US$ was so much stronger than the Canadian. That was a long time ago :(
Good riddance to those greedy capitalists! Who needs them. Without them we all be a lot closer to being equal.
USA corporate tax rate: 40%
Canada’s corporate tax rate: 11.5 to 16%
Those darned free-market capitalists up there!
Never cared for their food anyway. It was/is edible but that’s about it.
If they want to head North of the border...good luck to them.
TimmyHo’s is decent coffee, good donuts and average bagels consistent with Dunkin Donuts. I assumed that TimmyHo’s was aligned with Wendy’s in Canada since there are many TimmyHo’s and Wendy’s that share the same space.
And love to bitch about evil corporations.
