Congo is reporting Ebola cases in a northern town, sparking fears that the deadly virus is expanding far beyond West Africa. Two people in Gera town in the Democratic Republic of Congo tested positive for Ebola, a government spokesman said Sunday. A lab and quarantine station have been set up in the town, which is about 750 miles from the capital of Kinshasa. The World Health Organization said that the nation did its own tests, and the U.N. agency's lab is conducting its own confirmation testing that will also determine the strain of the virus found.

Youre Welcome, Alamo-Girl!
Lord protect us...
Whether this Congo out break is local Zaire strain Ebola or from West Africa, we have to remember Ebola is a blood born disease.
That means the Ebola EVD variant is currently spreading across the African roads to the population of African long distance truckers and their prostitutes blood born also means sexually transmitted to everywhere in Africa.
The poverty of Africa means that local prostitutes do a great deal more anal than vaginal sex due to a lack of contraceptives and in particular condoms.
In a matter of weeks we will be seeing prostitute vector Ebola showing up with village headmen and African government officials across equitorial Black Africa.
The timing of this Congo outbreak fits that sexual mode of transmission via long distance trucker.
We have already lost rural equatorial West Africa in Liberia and the Liberian cities are dying.
It is now a question of limiting the damage.
That is going to be problematical, because about the only way to do that is to restrict movement. Beyond sealing borders with troops, and cordoning off areas, that will be tough to do--and even then, people will get through. It only takes one, early, asymptomatic to start another hotspot--they get sick when they get where they are going.
We're already seeing this affect air travel, with sick people on planes causing entire passenger compliments to be isolated until it can be determined whether or not the ill person had Ebola or was simply airsick.
The economic effects may drive things for a while, but failure to stop the disease from spreading more will cause even more serious economic problems later on.
With those problems come interrupted food supplies, lack of medical supplies (already a problem), and fuel, to name just a few things.
At that point those who die as an indirect result of the disease may outnumber those who die from it.
Neighboring countries like Senegal have closed borders with infected countries, and over half the flights have been cancelled by the airlines themselves.
WHO is pushing airlines to CONTINUE full service, and is working to keep borders OPEN. They're doing this in the name of keeping food/supplies coming in to these poor countries.
How about adding Chaos Theory to the list? There are so many things on the cusp of going tangentially bad. Odds are at least some of them have to unravel and go seriously tangential.
My thinking is that it could happen that a worst case scenario could mean not leaving ones house and property for an extended period of time, maybe even with a disruption of utilities.
That's the one I could handle best. Don't know that travel would be a real good option in a worst case scenario.
Conspiracy theory stuff? Well, yeah. Amazing how many things that used to be called conspiracy theory end up being true.
The quarantine of West Point in Monrovia is pointless of Rats eat the bodies of the Ebola killed and act as a co-living with human animal reserve of the disease.
Burning down West Point after the disease runs it course there would be even worse, as the Rats would flee into the rest of Monrovia.
The interaction of Ebola, Drug Addicts and Rats in densly populated areas in Western cities does not bear thinking...but we better hope _somebody_ is screaming about that to WHO and the CDC.
I have this funny feeling that you will make QUITE a twinkle!
