Congo is reporting Ebola cases in a northern town, sparking fears that the deadly virus is expanding far beyond West Africa. Two people in Gera town in the Democratic Republic of Congo tested positive for Ebola, a government spokesman said Sunday. A lab and quarantine station have been set up in the town, which is about 750 miles from the capital of Kinshasa. The World Health Organization said that the nation did its own tests, and the U.N. agency's lab is conducting its own confirmation testing that will also determine the strain of the virus found.

PING!!!
Have we suspended flights to West Africa, yet?
Delta is ending it’s Liberia service from Atlanta, but what about United?
what bottle?
there’s been no quarantining of cities or grounding of flights
I fully expect to see Ebola cases in the US by 9-11
Can we get afraid and concerned now? or are we suppose to be in the mindset group of, don’t say anything; just be happy, don’t worry.
This makes me glad I live on a remote island in the middle of the pacific
Thanks for posting. BTTT!

Health/life BUMP!
I heard that it was a different version than the one in west Africa. I guess there are several strains of Ebola, some more deadly than others.
Do you have an extra room? LOL!
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!
So this may be the last days and we shall not ALL die ...
Well, true. But I’m having a hard time with it because on the one hand I want to experience death as the Passage, but I also don’t mind the idea of being “twinkled.” So there you are.
From what I read on another thread, the virus strains are different. The cases in DRC are Sudanese/Zaire variations.
The question is how the hell could there be simultaneous outbreaks of different strains.
I try not to wear my tin hat and think through these things critically, but this whole thing has a Stephen King vibe to it.
This whole outbreak has never made any sense and I put on my ‘tin foil’ hat a long time ago over it. Clearly Mother Nature is getting some aid here.
Thanks for the ping!
I have a pretty warped mind. I read too much. I know a lot of people in jobs where they say things to me they shouldn’t. (Just the other day I said to a buddy of mine: “You really should not be saying that on an open cel phone.—Words that I never thought would leave my mouth.)
I made a good living looking at math, probabilities, and statistical anomalies.
Lately, I tend to jump to conclusions that are in really dark places. But I never say anything to anyone because I do not want to be on any more lists.
It will be interesting to watch this thing unfold. Interesting as in sad and scary. I also make sure the extra gas cans are full and the wheels and propane are always in great shape on the RV.
