One niece in Sacramento felt it, one niece in YubaCity did not.
That is alcohol abuse!! Travis county DA Rosemary Limberg is deeply saddened.
The wine grape harvest may already be starting... Cabernet - Shaken, not stirred.
I’m on a temporary assignment out here staying in Concord. It woke me up at 3:20 and shook for a while. Not bad enough to have things falling but I don’t think I could have walked across the floor. Seemed like the earth was moving 6” or more every shake, just not that violently...
Thanks for the ping. That was a pretty big one.
Hard to read the numbers at the bottom of that graphic, but it looks like the main part lasted about 8 minutes.
Felt like 2 or three to me, but I am not around the epicenter...all my wine is ok!
milkshakes maybe
Grape Stakes maybe
Grape Quakes we can do without/
I ran into a couple at Church who have a son and his family living in American Canyon . They had minor damages
Its been a few hours since I last perused the USGS site with a list of all recent earthquakes.. so Im not certain what magnitude tremblors may have preceeded the 6.0 quake. we have aftershocks so Id suspect there may have been “foreshocks” as well.
Woke up daughter and son-in-law at Travis AFB. The dogs were scared sh$tless, the grandchildren slept through it. Just shaking, no damage. PTL, there were no fatalities.
Traffic on the return run just after noon was pretty bad. Hopefully feww on the road were “Lookie Lou” types
One of the men I talked to at church In Petaluma mentioned the “light show”
Thanks for checking in!
this one occured on a fault thats guesstimated to have been dormant for 1.6 million years...
I think this was a wakeup call
I was very young during the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989..I believe that one was during the day..I can imagine the damage would have been much worse this time around had it instead of being at 3:20AM it would have been 3:20PM..living in earthquake country, always have to be prepared for the worst
Loma Prieta was late afternoon just after a world series game began.
That is why that one was so devastating..imagine the quake this morning had been at 3:20PM instead of AM, I think the damage and injuries would have been more severe..more people on the streets, roads
Timing is everything, a random thing that can catch you off guard. My wife and I were using the overpass in Oakland the night before the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, both the upper and lower overpass coming and going visiting a daughter living in Oakland. We were horrified to see it collapsed on those cars and people the next day.
