Does anyone actually believe this?
I guess Kentucky Republicans who dont pay attention to politics but wholl end up deciding this years Senate race anyway do.
To repeat: Does anyone actually believe this? McConnell was one of the sharpest Republican critics of the defund strategy that produced a government shutdown last fall. Watch the clip below if you need your memory refreshed. Hes fond of saying about it, Theres no education in the second kick of a mule, i.e. the GOP paid a political price for the 1995 shutdown and then foolishly paid the same price again in 2013 (although the backlash was blunted by public outrage at the Healthcare.gov meltdown that was happening simultaneously). Quote: I think we have fully now acquainted our new members with what a losing strategy that is. He hates shutdowns almost as much as the people in the GOPs donor class who bankroll him do.
And yet here he is, soothing conservatives who are leery of reelecting him by vowing to take the fight to Obama this time and make him cause a shutdown if he refuses to agree to Republican demands. And he wants you to believe hes going to do this while prominent Republicans, including his pal Rand Paul, are declaring their candidacies in 2016. Its the purest nonsense. To believe it, you need to believe that somehow, if Obama vetoes the sort of bill McConnells describing here, that the GOP will win the ensuing media war over who really caused the shutdown. Which party, do you suppose, will the press hold responsible? Whom did they hold responsible in 1995, when Republicans controlled both houses of Congress and went head to head with a Democratic president? The party that loves government, the bigger the better, or the one that doesnt?

Now he’s “Severely” Conservative.
Either he thinks that the voters are completely stupid or he’s even more senile than Thad Cochran.
I used to think that a 51 -49 split in Reid's favor would have been great, just to gum up the works, nah, he already has. But... My worse case scenario now is we will end up 50 / 50 and some Jack Wagon on our side will revisit the 50 / 50 power-sharing split and we will be back to that nightmare again.
BTW, I don't think Thad or Mitch pull it out and we get a new Majority Leader and watch it be someone who believes in "comity" like Linsey or Johnny.... Uggh, then it will be 2 more years of an even more absurd Goat Rodeo...
Thanks, bert, always good to hear from the Vichy Republicans
Miotch is Soetoro’s biotch.
No, that would be the Liberal Booshies and Tokyo Rove. The GOPe is DEAD.
If you look closely, you will see the GOPc that comprises most conservatives.
The GOPc includes a broad spectrum of conservatives and does not exclude out of hand
They don’t realize it yet they are Vichy in some cases just Party Boy voters who keep chugging the kool-aid promise of keep, calm all is well that GOPE keeps serving.
In reality they are the reason we have obama. All their Republican nominees from Bush 41 to Romney are of their kind. Their senate/house nominees for the most part are their kind, yet they keep getting their butts kicked, then they go into a huddle with themselves and decide it must be someone else’s fault, which is very typical of liberals running from personal responsibility, and of course the GOPE, why they don’t make mistakes, lets try the same thing again, it’s sure to work this time!
The GOPE is the only reason we have obama and harry reid!
I'm sorry, which one is which again?
The shutdown wasn't a losing strategy.
Expecting McConnell to be the face of the Republican media campaign is the losing strategy.
McConnell is a doormat when it comes to confronting the opposition message machine.

Who is going to force McConnell to reign in government?
If it ends up 50-50, then Angus King can ask for a blank check from the Pubbies. If it’s 51-49 or more, King can pound sand IMO.
Mitch “The Bitch” is a savvy campaigner. The only hope for getting him out of the Senate, and preventing him from trying to destroy Conservatives for 6 more years is for EVERY TRUE, CONSERVATIVE AND TEA PARTIER TO SKIP THE SENATE ELECTION ON THE BALLOT ON NOV. 4. You don’t have to vote for a Democrat. If enough of the GOP Base (Conservatives) just don’t vote for McConnell, no way he can win. If Matt Bevins’ supporters and every Conservative, who is cussin’ mad about McConnell aiding and abetting Thad Cochran in his race-baiting tactics in stealing the GOP Primary in Mississippi, just don’t vote for McConnell, he will LOSE!
Just the very thought of that makes me start singing: “Oh happy day....oh happy day....
Any person who calls himself/herself a Conservative and then votes for Mitch McConnell, who hates Conservatives and wants to “crush them”, is, in my opinion, a word that rhymes with “wussy”.
Mitch, Mitch, Mitch. Youre fooling no one.

BULLSHIT! Maybe no one on this website, but there are a whole helluva lot of people who are politically uninformed, ignorant and lazy. They vote according to name recognition and “sound bites”.
Revolution Now, to save our Free Republic!

Hell yes! I am so down for it. If someone, with the wherewithal, political status and respect called for and orchestrated a Revolution.... I’m freakin’ there. And, I’m not kidding. What have we got to lose besides the America many of us knew growing up in the ‘50s.
