When I was in the navy, the E5’s and E6’s were the backbone of the Navy.
We did fine whether we had a chief or not. I was leading PO (E6) of the Aircraft and Elevator shop on the Enterprise and reported directly to the Engineering officer.
On the submarine, when we got a new chief he came to me and asked me what he was supposed to do.

If you accept an administrative reduction in rank then when you retire you get retirement pay for the highest rank attained.
America most definitely did NOT elect Obola even once, let alone twice.
He ascended to the Throne by virtue of massive voter fraud in both elections.
I live in Ohio, which “voted” 110% for Obola in some precincts and 0% for Romney.
That is a statistical impossibility, and it is a glaringly obvious proof of fraud on a massive scale.
Obola “carried” Ohio and other states by multiple crimes involving voter fraud.
He did not win either election. He cheated. Didn’t win. Isn’t legally the president.

I was in the Service during Vietnam. I started as an E1 and left as an E4. Of course we did the dirty work. The goal (if you stayed in) was to advance yourself to the higher ranks so that you did not have to do the “grunt work.”
Believe it or not, it’s the same way in real life...something I guess you have not experienced yet. You start at the bottom and work your way up to the top.

I agree...guy is probably sour grapes because he had a Chief jump on him. Chief’s were once sailors too and are the backbone of the Navy. Proud wife of a retired Navy Chief and daughter of a retired Navy Chief. I can tell you they did a hell of a lot more than hold a cup of coffee in their hands and tell stories and whoever says otherwise is a liar.
Would love to tell my father and husband that you think the only thing they did as Chiefs was hold a coffee mug in their hands. That is a lie and you forget they were once sailor’s too.
Tell them. I have watched what chiefs do. They aren’t the demi-gods that many here think. They are just men.

You nailed it DH. Hubby would have made E9 if not for a traffic accident that had him in hospital when Eval promotions were being done, and been a Ret. MCPO, instead of a SCPO.
Hubby started as a E1 at 18, 20 yrs later retired as a E8 SCPO. He was on the Midway when they pulled the Ambassador out of Nam, off the coast of Cuba during the Missile Crisis, worked the Flight Deck on his other cruises. Then Taught A/B schools in between. Kept the Communication gear operational along with his other duties.
He didn’t sit on his can drinking coffee. He WORKED during working hrs. Yes he might have had a cup of coffee doing his paper work. But even civilians do that. It was the way they stayed awake when pulling more than a 8 hr shift.
He EARNED his RANK, it was not handed to him.
Only those who went to college are basically handed their first rank after boot camp.
There have been purges of the Military after wars for as long as we have had a Military, but not at this high a level. It got so bad under the Peanut Farmer, Reagan had to nearly totally rebuild the Military along with fighting the Cold War. It got bad under Slick Willie, and GWB had to correct that. Now 0 is decimating our Military to make room for ILLEGAL INVADERS. You have to look for the motive behind the purging.

And you are a fool if you think that chiefs are such heroes. They are men and women like everyone else. Besides, if the Navy is getting the axe, chiefs aren’t exempt. Fewer seamen and petty officers means fewer chiefs.
